Turbo rebuild

I just sent my Garrett turbo out of a Powderlites Nytro kit in for a rebuild. Wondering if there is anything I could do to it to enhance the performance? Or is it best to leave stock? The bearings have a lot f side to side play, and it burned oil bad last year. what would of caused this? was thinking lot of hot shutdowns would cook a bearing.

and to big of a restrictor going into a ball bearing turbo will blow the seals out after a long time.. but we as sledders are notorious for really hard pulls(thats all we do) and then shutting them down a few seconds later, its awful for them, but its kinda what we do.

as far as performance... maybe a billet wheel in the turbo if you wanna spend some $$>. better spool and overall better performance.

it makes sense that after 5000km of abuse there would be some damage. how many km are you guys getting out of your turbos? does boost pressure make a differance?

I am suprised that nobody has been talking about ceramic bearings for turbos.

I have been running ceramic bearings in my Seadoo RXP for five years now.

They are 100 times more exact in terms of tolerances than any steel bearing.......

They have lower rolling resistance and that translates to longer life and better performance...........

are ceramic bearing something the guys at pdr diesel would know about. it sounded like the rebuild is a complete internal.

a turbo when treated right should outlast the engine, is it watercooled? if you switch to a watercooled centre housing it will help with shutdowns...

I beleive the Mits turbos have these......but I could be wrong ;)

Ya it is water cooled. the powderlites kits run lines from the cooling system to the turbo
