Turbo my 2012 Pro (read a lot about failures) or Buy 2011 TM8 ?

I'm about to pull the trigger on either Turbo'ing my 12 Pro RMk or buying a race gas Turbo M8. After reading all the crap I've read on these Polaris's I might have to wait until I see their longevity first. I would hate to spend 7k then in 500 miles the motor blow. Cat's have an awesome history and my friends sled built by volk the same day has 5 x the mileage and running perfectly still.

Damn, I was starting to look for a pro used with a boon docker volk turbo set up, but because of reliability reasons i may just have to get a M8 instead and keep the pro as a backup sled which I can eventually turbo...

Who lives in Alaska or BC, I want to visit:)

Cat is by far the leader in turbo applications, and I'm not sure if your talking about the new proclimb chassis, or the old M8 chassis.
I wouldn't bother with an old M8 chassis, they are fun but OLD, you feel like your riding a bathtub after being on the newer sleds.

The turbo pro is the funnest sled I've ever ridden, however you are correct in worrying about the motor and the motor problems have nothing to do with a turbo.
The fail rate with the 11's has reared it's ugly head, I haven't heard about any 12's so maybe poo has improved on something.

Or the 12's don't have enough miles on them yet to start showing the problem. Just saying.

Run some oil in your fuel tank and it will help. Won't stop the issue but it will slow it down. Talk to some guys that have 2700+ miles on the Pro 8's and 90% of them are running oil in each tank. I do now and I will from now on with any Polaris 800 motor. Cheaper than rebuilding every 1100 miles.

Is say just as good practice take 50% of what youve read /heard and forget it. I know lots of people with reliable turbo pros the only failure I am immediatly aware of is a 2012

And there's a good chunk of the issues caused by the installer/tuner (sled owner NOT kit maker) that people aren't going to blame themselves for. It's just so much eaiser to say the turbo company screwed ya instead of improper installation. I have let hoses wear through, had a wire plugged in wrong, a toasted tps sensor, boost leak, then ignored a boost recommendation cause she was running good and toasted a motor. I could, and have heard people, blame Justin for bad instruction. Going back over the instructions after a problem occurred ive in most cases found the step I missed or didn't feel was needed that caused my issue. And this was after a call to Justin where he politely walked me through my issue not once pointing out that it was the idiot installer/tuner causing the issue and if I just did what he suggested in the first place I wouldn't have the issue. If its your first turbo you will learn a lot and probably make some mistakes, but the ones that are properly set up are running amazing and the ones that are having issues are the ones you hear about.

Final Decision

Final Conclusion:
*Keep enjoying my 2012 Pro RMK, getting to know the sled and working on my skill abilities...
*Snow checking a 2013 Pro RMk 155

Done!

All I got on turbo pros is here say, but I do live in Alaska so if your coming up send me a pm and we'll try to get ya out on a sled.

Let me know when your coming up as well! I don't have an extra sled, but am always down to ride, and you could throw a leg over her and see what your missing.

Seriously considering a journey to Alaska!

Where the heck would I be going, A and B how is the riding this year?

I ride a stock 2012 Pro RMK, still learning but next season I'll be riding a pump gas 2013:)

I would love to come up to Alaska, I see the videos of unreal riding, is it still good in April?

I think but not sure that twisted has figured out a way to get more oil to the right places and they hold up.
Nothing wrong with a '11 m8t but its not as easy as the pro, just as capable with the right suspension but you have to earn it.

sleds

this year we sold a few silber and few boondocker pro rmks 2012s they work awesome, the 2012 changed the cylinder so the skirt wont break off like some 2011s , there is not a huge rate of failures its just on snowest you will only see the issues and not How awesome they are.
just make sure you install the turbo correct and triple check your work, all our guys are happy

I've been running mine at about 75:1 since new. I figure it can't hurt. We'll see how it goes.

I think that is the in tank mix with injection.

but just in the tank doesn't help as much as turning up oil, the oiler put the oil to better places

That makes more sense.

On topic wise, I say turbo your Pro, I have multiple ridding buds running 2012 pros with Boondocker kits, 0 issues and super quick and easy install.

Turbo

Turbo it!!!! I'm currently grinning from ear to ear because of my 2012 155 Assault that has a Silber Turbo on it!!!! If you'd like I can even point you in the direction of a great place to buy one and get it installed.

I know several people with turbo pros (BD and Silber). Some days they love them, other days they hate them. Overall everyone loves the power, but most agree if they did it over they would save the money as the bad days typically happen when the powder is deep and the sled is not running well. There is no pull the cord and ride turbo kits. If you want something like that buy a 1100T, or a Yamaha.

I call BS, seen lots of TM8's (never had a bad day on mine), but there is a reason I would call twisted also. Who installed and tuned those kits.
