Turbo Mountain Light? worth it?

If I had the money, i would have mine done. I think you can get the same hp out of them as a stock Nytro, and have a lighter sled. The only reason I bought my nytro and didnt turbo mine was because my wife decided that she liked riding it.

i am not completely sure but i can pick up a mountain light for about 3-4k used and a turbo for around 4-5k. costing less than any other stock sled new. i think it would be a sweet sled being so small and light.

but factor in all the extras!!!!! the kits dont come with seats, gauges, brackets and what nots. plus factor in the install cost. your 8-9g sled soon becomes 11-12g sled. trust me! been there done that. lol

I have only seen one out West that was turbo'd...that is one thing Yamaha should have done, increase the HP on this sled on year two and they may have been a contender but as they are stock they just don't have enough. I would think about the total cost for a bit, get some info from the guys on here like you are doing and then make a wise decision...

mcx pahzer

put a mcx kit on the wifes phazer wow its super fun to ride and she likes it too alittle loud she says but she like the sled that all that matter

and its always cool pulling up with your wife and seeing everyone gather around her sled because people dont turbo alot of them.

my wife loves it and never had to do much tuning so IMO its worth every penny.

cheers :beer;

so overall how much do you think you have spent total in parts and all the little bells and whistles minus the cost of the sled. i just called my buddy and his insurance company will let me buy back his sled pretty cheap.

I just intalled a MCX kit on my wifes this summer, I wanted her to just get a Nytro, but she said she does not want a Nytro, she likes the way the phazer handles. It will be fun to see how it rides, I did not put the headshim in and I am just planning on running 9-10 lbs of boost and AV gas, I think it will be perfect for her. I can't tell you how it rides but I am anxious to see myself.

I helped turbo one and it is a riot. Gets a lot of attention and smoked the 800 2 strokes at the BIS.... I also love the sound of it.

MCX no longer makes a kit for the Phazer, I'm pretty sure they stopped last year. Check with Robertson yamaha in Canada. He did the last one I think.

I owned a S/C phazer for a couple seasons, fun sled! will smoke a 800. 14in wide track hurts it. I had a 151 camo challenger and it helped a bunch. I just sold mine for $5500 alot of sled for the $$

Fun little sled. Did have quite a bit of Turbo lag though. MCX quit making the kits for the phazer last year. We got the last one from them (i am told). They were definately fun, but I still think a guy is alot better off taking a used nytro and putting a 180 turbo on it for 4500 and spending 10-12k on a 180HP nytro than similar numbers on a phazer with 140hp.
To really make a turbo phazer perform most people were stretching them to a 151" and taking a 15" wide track and slightly trimming it I believe, or in the case of Randy's pic I'm pretty sure that has a 151 15" track in it.
Randy could say for sure though.

To each and their own, but I think a smarter choice is a used 08-09 Nytro MTX with a 180HP MCX Kit. Not sure what the US market is like but you could find one used in canada for around 7K and boost it for 4-5K.

Got a used 09 nytro XTX with 1.75" Backcountry 144" with MCX-180 for sale at the moment. nice sled. - Cody

Find one already done for $4500-$6500, cant buy a nytro for that.
