Turbo M8 Vs. Charged Nytro

I have seen a Turbo Vector at 15lbs boost beat up on one pretty bad, and the Nytro is faster. The Cat had an aerocharger Turbo, but I do not know what kit it was. He claimed it was supposed to be 220 hp.

220 hp is pretty optomistic with a 53 series aerocharger. An automotive turbo M8 should be pretty close to the Nytro boost for boost - then again I know guys who are running 17-18 lbs. of boost through the Nytro. I'd like to see the M8 give that one a whirl. :)

Never seen them run side by side, but I talked with a guy who owned one.

He said that he was highmarking with his TM8 with a bunch of buddies and he was smoking all of them on their sleds but that he could only make it about 2/3 of the way up the hill. He said a turbo'd Nytro showed up and went straight over the top catching air off the top of the hill, and his exact words where "made my machine look stupid"

Like I said I did not witness it, just repeating what he told me and he was the one riding the TM8.

not a chance that the nytro will be near the machine the m8 both boosted....l would be surprised if the boosted nytro could challange a boosted m6

Its better to sit back and be quiet and hide ignorance than step forward open your mouth and display it.

Ya you are right......what I think people wanted me to say was The TM8 smoked the Nytro, it was not even close. The Nytro was just to heavy and way under powered even with the turbo to compete. That and he could not go anywhere on the mountains because there where trees and those machines just can't ride in the trees.

iam thinking of removing my steering because i only go strait so why have it would save a little weight.:D:beer;

So you have personally seen this happen? I think the author of this thread deserves to have some real world input...I mean come on, is that not really what he asked for. Go back to the Cat forum and tell everybody how great the M8 Tbo is, I think you will get a round of high fives from everyone. LOL

two things:

cost and fuel

1st nytros are super expensive, buy a used m8 for super cheap
2nd cost of turbo kits... im thinking a little more expensive on the nytro...

as for fuel... 7 gallon fuel tank on boosted nytro = PACKING A 5 GALLON CAN EVERYWHERE YOU GO,
however you run pump fuel vs race on the m8, so there is a little money savings there...

either way you will have fun!!!

its called avgas about 10 cents a liter most. 50/50 blend. after 10 engines in the m8 and 0 in the nytro, what cost more now? except the facts! 4 strokes are the wave of the future. we"ll have no choice soon! even doo is joining the evelution, new 1200 4 stroke.

"Real World"...................thats a tough one. I have never seen a TM8, except maybe in the sledding movies.
The Vegas odds would probably be on the Nytro. The Dyno powerband would to be a good clue also. Each may peak at a simular HP, but the TM8 is probably there for only a split second.
I'll bet a steak dinner that a boosted Nytro would walk the TM8.
IMO

Edit: "I have never seen a TM8".......................how many people are building them?

I would have to agree with you on that one!
on the subject of fuel.....I am running 15-16lbs of boost on straight premium with a Synergy powered Apex! most impressive turbo kit I have seen to date...instant throttle response, Love the Apex!

av gas? no wonders you went through 10 engines on the m8... LOL

new 2 stoke technology is cleaner and more powerful, not to mention lighter than 4 strokes...

I KNOW, let me repeat that, I KNOW that there is at least one TM8 out there that handed it to the Tapex's last year... and before you start saying it must have been a crappy set up or the boost wasnt up high enoug, you had better be prepared for whos tapex it was...

anyways my point is there are pros and cons to each set up. I personally dont think you can go wrong with either, but you have to consider all aspects and not just power vs power...

!

I think some one should set it up amd I will come watch. That is the only way we will be able to tell!! hook it up.

I think most on the board hear boosted nytro they think of some uber sweet CR racing built one. Then you say TM8 and everyone thinks of a stock M8 with a turbo slapped on it. Which isn't fair, your are into a CR built nytro what 30-35K? A m8 with turbo kit what 13-15k?

So if you were to take a bone stock nytro, put your choice of turbo kit on it. Allowed nothing but fuel and clutching changes, no new skid or light weight stuff. Then do the same with a Sno Pro M8, just turbo and clutching and fuel. I think the M8 might be the winner. Crap stock track on nytro, crap shocks and skid on nytro. You have the weight on a stock nytro.

Then flip it around and run them against each other totally decked out light weight everything new tunnels etc etc. I don't know who would win but I do know that I would at that point be happy with taking the losers sled home with me.

This thread is meant to be a pissing match. Which can be alot of good fun.

Phatty, your right there are pros and cons for each. It would be fun to watch.

Ready ......Set ..........GO!

turbo

Hard to say,but ya I would take the looseing sled.Saw a turbo nitro (240 hp)in action...well kinda(old guy rideing) was impressive. No doubt.I still like 2 strokes.I have had bad luck with my gramaha dirt (450 4 stroke) so I am kinda biased that way.
