Turbo apex or another 2 stroke

One cool thing if your into modding is buy a cheap used turbo apex, I cant beleive how cheap they are now. then if you find its a little awkward and want a nytro in a year or two call up diamond S and get a full titanium nytro conversion kit that uses the turbo apex engine, and only weighs like 6lbs more then a nytro i think he said. Killer mod sled.

There are some amazing deals on T Apex sleds right now. And there is probably no other sled out there right now that you could buy new or almost new for a low price like an Apex and then turbo it yourself.

They are amazing.

Heavy but with the power and the way they are balanced you will be surprised how easy they are to carve.

I think I have decided on the Nytro, and will lighten it up a bit.... There is some good deals on the APEX's though.... Its a tough choice, but the Nytro with Turbo looks like it should do them both well....be a good climber, and ride well in the trees.

Nytro

I have an 07 Apex with a 162x2.5 track / clutch kit and an EXCELL exhaust and love the heck out of it...you couldn't give me 2-Nytro's for 1 APEX. Just my 2 cents but the Nytros feel really clumsy and seem like they love to trench in the snow....the Apex to me feels as though it has over 150 ponies to where the Nytro feels like it has around 115...not the 130 as claimed...to me the difference is night and day. The Apex is EXTREMELY balanced in the deep stuff, really easy to rip a donut on and with the 16in wide track makes it way easier to tool around in the trees... The only thing I can think of that Yamaha did wrong on the Apex was not offering a factory installed supercharger on it like they do with there watercraft!! I give the Apex an A+ and the Nytro a C+

I used to ride a 99 670 summitx and then a 2001 Mountain Max 700 that was well modded and I was worried about going to a turboed Apex. But I have no regrets:D. I am 6'4" 220lbs I ride the trees and love to climb. I have hit trees and also been rear end by an RX-1 while up against the trees and my sled is solid. Couple scratches that is it. So I say go for it get the Turboed Apex. Learn a little throttle control and you will be fine. Mine is an 07 and I haven't seen any changes in the sled over the last couple years. So whatever year you decide to purchase you won't be at a disadvantage.:beer; Good Luck

Good to see I am not the only one that prefers the Apex handling.

The money saved over a Nytro is well spend on some light weight stuff, once you have it down light ( it is easy to get them to be lighter than a stock Nytro)
There is no comparison -- lots more power and stable and predictable handling.
I am not quite done the mods on mine but should get it close to 500lb , that is the weight of My TRX1 with the 151" track the Ape has a 153'' :face-icon-small-hap
