Truckee area Spring riding beta needed

I am heading out to Truckee on Friday and am hanging at my friends new house for a week or two and thought I might as well bring my sleds. I live in Western Wyoming and ride a lot of Alpine terrain, hill climbing, boondocking, etc and would like to find similar terrain around Truckee or Tahoe. Where are some good areas to ride? And is there enough snow left at low elevations to access these areas.

I haven't been up there in a couple of weeks to know how much snow is at the lower elevations. If you ride out of Little Truckee Summit there should be plenty of snow. And there is some awesome riding, any kind of riding you want to do.

If you are in Truckee. You can still ride out of a area referred by locals as DLI. It is the Donner lake exit on west bound I80 about 5 miles out of
Truckee. Just get off the freeway and unload/ride to the northwest. Alot of good riding out at Castle and Basin peaks. Hillclimbing ,boondocking etc. Riding goes on forever. If DLI is thin on Snow just go up to Castle peak exit on 80. Park on the south side of 80 and ride under the freeway out to the northwest. Also as mentioned Little Truckee Summit on SR89 about 10 miles north of Truckee has good riding. LTS takes a little more knowledge to get yourself off the groomed trail to good riding. There is a bunch of other places to ride around there but those are the 2 simplest for a out of towner

We are getting fresh snow right now and this week so the riding should be good for awhile. If you need more detailed info pm me.
