Truck buying advice?

Ok, so to sum it up, I think I'm sold on a 2012 Cummins ...

Question now becomes, how do I get the best deal on one?

Found a couple in the Denver/Brighton area, but something tells me if I try to buy it from the dealer in Brighton they won't want to dicker at all.

I have the Chrysler Affiliate buying option, but I don't know if I want to use it, I might want to try and dicker down myself?

What are they really selling these trucks for right now? Truck I want stickers at $61k .... All the nonsense about "rebates" and "cash back" is pure BS to me, I wanna know what the bottom line is on the truck they're selling me is gonna be ... so bottom line is, what are my odds of getting them to knock $10k off the sticker price in addition to the "rebates" and give me $10k for my trade-in on an 05 Chevy? :D

Can deals like that be had right now on a Dodge? If not I might go with a Ford hahahaah

i would doubt many dealers would be willing to knock $10,000 off a sticker price on a new truck

10k is not a problem on a 61k truck. With rebates and mark up etc it can happen. I got 11k off mine and it only stickered at 45k. There is a thread on dodgetalk that guys are seeing 13-14k off sticker on the higher models.

Dave Smith quoted me over the phone just a shade over $10k off sticker ... Might be able to get a little better than that, IDK.

A little over a year ago a buddy of mine bought a new dodge from stampede in Nampa Id. I'm not sure what the price was but I know it was cheaper than going to Dave smith in Kellogg. Might be worth checking into

Wait for a "Dodge Deal"

I looked into some '12 Cummins back in March during "truck month," and I could have had a base model four door one ton dually for something like 35k off the lot. I know it wasn't the tip top of the fancy line, but it was still the same truck. The only thing that stopped me was the horrible fuel mileage. They wouldn't budge on any prices though, even when I offered a full payment.

I just bought the Dodge today ... motor isn't even broken in yet and its already getting about 3 mpg better than my 8.1L was just city driving .... heh :)

CASH, does nothing for a dealer. You will probably get a better deal on the truck if you finance through them. Ask them. It's not like dealers can take that cash and use it for day to day expenses. Cash in hand or a check from the bank is the same to them. They have to claim it all. IF you pay cash you'll get flagged by the IRS, which is not a big deal assuming you claimed it in the first place and paid taxes.

Most of the time the dealer can give you a bigger discount on a finance deal because they can make a little money from the financing. You generally have to make 3 payments to the bank for them to get paid. If you agree on a deal for them to finance, at least make those 3 payments so they get taken care of. You can pay it off after that.

I don't know about the markup on a Dodge, but on GM there is not NEAR the markup there used to be (pre-Bankruptcy). Sounds like dodge is still saying their trucks are worth MSRP and selling them far below that (devaluing the vehicle immediately).

Look at NADA value of a 1-year old Dodge truck...

I can't help it that I'm an awesome negotiator :face-icon-small-ton

And I think the 13-14k off msrp were not the norm but the best deals that individuals had gotten. But if one person can get that so can anyone else... if they work the deal in their favor.

And I compared a 2010 crew cab 4x4 diesel in all 3 brands on kbb.com. All 3 were around 41k. :noidea:

Some dealers can do better deals than others. Some people qualify for rebates that others won't.

You can always get a better deal on a truck a dealer has in stock.

Also. Use NADA.com over kbb. More realistic pricing.

Enjoy your truck man. I've got a 2010 with a lift, deletes and a bunch of crap done to it. Such a great truck. Can't beat a Cummins.
