Which weights of Dan's were you running?
Dans set up. Definitely more aggressive on the bottom end. diff springs, helix and wt profile. I like it.

I was running 82 grams with rooster wts with my first set up. Aggressive and the temps weren't hot. 4000 rpm engagement.

81 with Indy Dan set up. Aggressive on the bottom. The temps about the same with longer legs. 4100 engagement.

76.7 with lightning wts with TRS set up. Definitely longer legs but not to aggressive on the bottom.4600 rpm engagement. Temps were good also. Astro glide smooth engagement.

.025 belt to sheave clearance. Did this so if the lightning weights were to light I could put ID weights in for the day.

Glad you like it.

Couple things:

25t TKI with 7t 3" drivers? You are geared WAY too low. TKI chaincase conversion has a 58t bottom gear. Your effective gearing is 2.52:1.

You need a 27t top pulley. That will get you to 2.33:1.

4600RPM engagement is abnormally high for that setup. Do you have Dans delrin washer in the primary or something? Is that 165-310 a polaris almond/red? 76g weights + Polaris almond/red engages at 4000-4200 ish

I'd also recommend a 140-200 secondary spring and maybe a 150-290 primary (Polaris Almond/Gold).

With the gearing and spring changes, the bottom end will be wicked.

7 tooth drivers with a TKI belt drive 25 tooth top gear. It feels like I put 8 tooth drivers and a bigger top gear.
174-3'' aren't meant to go 85 mph.

Try 150/290 primary and 140/200 secondary

Thats what I did and i will put a review soon of the setup and how it worked for me.

Yes it is a Polaris almond red 165-310. After checking packaging the sec is 140-200. All the springs are poo like Tony advises. NO on Dans delrin washer. Never got one. I have the 150-290 spring also. Going up in the gearing would make it less aggressive on the bottom. More top end. Im not looking to race across lakes.

Hows your belt deflection? 4600 engagement is not normal. Did you put the weights on a scale or are you going off someone else's word?

Trust me on the gearing.

On another note, Dan has 3 different turbo weight profiles. That's what I was asking about.
I personally think getting your gearing around a 2.3 area is best for tree riding.
Also, 4600 rpm engagement is like whiplash on a trail haha. Surprised you like it.
With Dan's T3 weights and TRS secondary setup plus the 150/290 Almond/gold primary my engagement was around 4200.

Belt deflection slight squeal when its warm.

the wts say 76.5 but actually weigh 76.7. I weighed them individually

Posted a pic of dans wts I used. The 4600 engagement is super smooth no jerking what so ever. My intentions were dans wts the 150 spring and leave sec like you mentioned.

As far as better in the trees. Dans set up is more aggressive (snappy). Now it is not as snappy.

Dans set up is what I like.

Are those the weights you got from me? Thought the heaviest I had was 75.7 or so.

Something is not adding up. We all have bottom end like a twin piped sled or better. I have been on really good stockers, big bores... Variety of sleds. I always want my sled back ASAP because of the bottom end.

Glad you found a setup that you like!! I liked a mixture of both haha.

Yup those are the weights I got from you. Said 76.5 on zip loc and the weight. I got a set of 73.5 from tri city for maybe a 5# set up. They were the heaviest set he had left.

Spring condition's coming here so I think ill leave it for this weekend. 10-12''. 1 more test day. I pulled the sled out yesterday and engagement was 4200 twice then 4400 loading it back in the trailer. Ill try to get a lil footage this weekend.

By swapping to the 150-290 in the pri that should drop my engagement correct?

1 change at a time.

Correct. That's the spring I'm running this weekend. I bounce back and forth on which spring I like better. Seems to be dependent on the snow and terrain we are playing in.

Bottom divided by top gear is 2.32

Divided by .92 for the 7 tooth drivers that come on chain case models. Ends up giving you a 2.52 final. I was told years ago by many to change my gearing ( my previous machine a ProT) to as close to 2.32 as possible. I geared my Pro T to 2.32 and found it worked great. I started with a new build this year a Axis 174x3 Turbo (so sounds like we have similar machines) I felt comparing my Axys T with stock gearing compared to my Pro T with a final of 2.32 (both running 174x3 ) that the stock gearing wasn't loading the engine enough to really get it pulling. Wasn't happy the way the sled was performing. Turbo engines need load! So I changed my Axis gearing to as close to 2.32 as possible (its at 2.33). The power of the engine is know getting used. And its plenty low enough to ride the timber.
