Trailers stolen, I got an idea

With all the trailers and sleds stolen in BC as of late, it might be worth it to find an enclosed four place trailer and park it in someone's driveway as bait.

Load up the trailer with some sort of homing equipment and a good long lasting battery to power it.

Splash graphics all over it "Arctic factory racing team, or Polaris Racing, or Doo racing"

Make it very attractive for these scumbags to take off with it.

Fire up the tracking device and track the present location or a crumb trail of where it went.

I would throw $50 at this project. Enough people like me, a decent trailer could be bought.

Nab a few of these lowlifes for 6 months or so, then sell the trailer and everybody gets their donation back.......

You would need to find the best location for the trailer to sit. You would need to source some equipment to install into the trailer.

Place an ad on Craigslist saying something like:

For sale: Four place enclosed trailer with (2) Yamaha Nitro turbo sleds (1) 2008 Summit 800 (1) Polaris 800 Dragon

Must sell $20,000 or best offer.

Sleds located in my trailer on my driveway at:
234 Jicky Jack Lane
Kelowna, BC

^^^^
Could also be Revelstoke or Whistler or anywhere where these trailers have been stolen.

Come by and take a look between 5pm-8pm weekday evenings.

The scumbags would lift that rig in a week!!

It would be worth $50 for a few of these jerks to get caught.

Police are not recovering these trailers, why not do it ourselves?

Buy a $3,000 trailer thats 60 donations. Add a few hundie for a homing device of some sort........

This could be a pretty cool operation!

Of course you Canadian folks would have to make this happen, but I would help fund it if someone was serious........

Maybe a tracking system like this:

Interesting! I can see people wanting to do this in their own area. It still is an awesome idea to catch some scumbags.

ya, id do it kinda where our sleds got stolen. and just let the trailer go from spot to spot. you know how much **** would be recovered knowing where these things are ending up.

the cops should be doing this.

I wonder if Findmespot would be interested in donating or lending out a demo model of a spot messenger and the tracking subscription for the cause. You could easily wire up that to a reasonably sized 12v battery.

k im gonna buy a tracker for our new trailer. whats the best smallest one out their that isnt noticable? i dont want them to steal the trailer and have the thing sitting right their and they'll just rip it off.

anyone??? ordering one today

that would work good for temp amount of time, we need something permanent

I've got a better idea. Do as the OP suggested, find/buy a trailer and post up a CL ad. Put a chair inside the trailer- nothing else, just a comfy chair. Have someone grab a shotgun with some 00 buck shot, a cell phone, and sit in the chair- close door on trailer and wait for scumbags. As soon as they open the door to check out the loot... BAM. Guy inside the trailer calls you up and says "come get me." Done deal. You could even ad a cooler for food and water if the person inside needed to stick it out for a few days.

Just a thought, but don't you guys think that some of these stealing bastards are members of this site??? Or at least they probably surf these sites. They could read to see where and when the best time to steal things. Maybe I am way off, just my 2 cents.

sign up !!!

Lets get a list of who will pony up, I have not had anything stolen but I would be willing to lend 60.00. When were done in that area move it to another area. proactive is better sitt'in on our butts. Its called meat eater or stirring the ****.

We could treat him like a terrorist, interrogate him, torture him, and then bury him up in under the snow on a hill. The bears will find him come spring and have a nice feast.

I'd 'lend' money for the cause.

I put this on another thread but pertain here too.
