Track Stabbing

I've been reading alot about the M's having bad track stabbing problems and was wondering if that happens with or without the idler wheels in or if it happens in either case? If it is something that happens in either case, what is the best kit to order?

I have the limiter straps down and the front in th lower hole.....4,000 miles never a problem!!!! Is this a problem and should I make change????

Many miles have been put on with out anti-stabs. But all it takes is branch on a downed tree with the 3.0 pitch track to ruin your day.

i have wheels on mine at the tip just for piece of mind but i ride with two other m7s with the same amount of miles that dont have them and so far they've had no problems.

oh and for the kit, you can buy an axle with the same size wheels as the "anti-stab" kit for like $40 from hiperf.com which is about half what an actual kit costs. thats what i did and have three seasons on it with no issues..

hi
i stabbed my track with about 1000 on my m7 this was a problem on the m7 sleds have not heard of any of the newer sleds having this issue i updated my suspension to the 07 and have not had any problems yet

bdx makes a antistab kit also for the m sleds

So this was only a prob with the 7's huh. I guess I'll just keep on riding. No sense on spending more money on pointless extras I guess. Thanks much guys.

track stabing

I stabbed mine last spring and i was not to impressed cost me 900bucks for a new track and had to replace the back idlers because they bent over and of course a windshield because you go right throw it.
put a new power claw track on and its deadly for spring riding hoping its good in the powder.
also put a BD anti stab kit on cost me 80bucks....well worth it
take a chance without it and you might be buying a track or you may get away lucky
good luk to ya

Stabbed Mine Too

Stabbed my 05 M7 two seasons ago. $1300 for track, rear axle and other assorted things (including a bearing in my diamond drive which I am pretty sure failed because of the shock from the stab). Bought the SLP antistab for both my M7 and new M1000 . . .

then last Dec up in Sicamous, a guy staying at the same place (Rene's Eagle lodge - great place BTW) had his antistab wheels fail on a climb and it messed up his sled. Not sure of the details but cost him $600 to get it fixed and he was out for a day on his trip.

Go figure..

During the first season I had my M7, I hit a small tree stump and stabbed the track. We were trying to come up with a way to get the sled out when Bret Rasmussen came out of the trees to see what was up (he owned Mtn. Magic at the time). I didn't know who he was at the time, but he just happened to be up there riding the same day as us and came over to see if we needed any help. He looked at it and said it looked like a warranty to me. I laughed thinking he was joking but he wasn't. I took my sled to him that week and he got me a new track, and put an anti-stab kit on at no cost to me. Sorry to hear a lot of you guys had to pay for the fix.

anybody else use their stab situation as a warranty claim? just wondering if its a "for sure thing". i would feel a lot better knowing that if it did happen, it was covered.

About 20 years ago I stabbed mine on an SS. had a snojet suspension. Windshield gone, Then a friend of mine ran over me. To hell with the cost of the sled its medical bills. Buy or make a set and Red lock tight them in place. The first guy that says " aww hell that can't happen to me" he will stab his rails.

limiter strap

New to cat (from doo) just wondering if somebody can enlighten me on is it a single strap or double strap as have not pick mine up yet but would like to order a anti stab kit.

Thanks

Well seeing how it is easier to spend $80 vs. $1000, I don't think I'll just say to hell with it and take a chance. Thanks for the comments guys!
