track porting

Mine is ported with one hole down the center...I think I'd do two the next time. Seen some guys running with 5 holes (3in the middle and 1 on each side)...also found a shredded track with 5;)

who has ported there track and how many holes

Porting is personal preference.

On the 900, I did two down the center where the idlers don't run.

Did you use a hole saw to cut the holes? Thinking I might do it if its not too labor intensive.

do u have any issues with vibration when the wheels run over the holes i was thinking about running 3 down the middle

porting

I used a hole saw and it worked great, i did a 1 1/4 hole. After you drill the hole out just take a tourch of some sort and burn the inside of the holes to keep it from fraing. I learned that from some body on snowest, you can also burn any other fraise you may have on the track.

This is exactly what I did. I run an inside wheel kit, and one is all you have room for. 1.25 hole saw works like a hot damn!! Doing this, you only shed a half pound of rubber, but it's more for letting the snow out.

Just make darn sure you don't set the track on fire! I read a thread about this same time last year that a guy was burning some loose threads on his track, came back about a half hour later and had a soft-ball sized section of his track melted away!!!! from a thread that had continued to burn....:eek::eek:

might be a good idea to have some water handy just incase!:eek:

If you use a hole saw grind the teeth flush on the outside and it will leave a smoother hole.
