track extension????

Well I bought a Trail 500 for parts. It was a 2 up touring at one time. Some one put a one up seat, and added the back part of a tunnel of another machine:p. The skid frame has some interesting stuff going on, i have never seen anything like it. Im wondering if you guys have seen this before? I think its around 144" long.

Thats pretty different cant say I have ever seen anything like it before. The high and low range I would think would be off a wide track LX that was designed for pulling loads. Come to think of it the suspension might be out of a wide track too?!?! The springs may have been there in order to compensate for the added weight?!?! Someone's got to know Ive only ever seen one wide track in person and that was in 2008 it was a polaris test sled and the suspension wasnt like this one.

I thought about the widetrack, I guess thats what the skid could be out of. But that rear pivot point has me wondering? I have never seen nothing like that.

Measure the tunnel width. Those big Ute's typically had a wider track than the standard 15" wide.

I believe the rear spring up section is for using reverse. It allows the rear section to pivot up creating track approach angle for the rear much like the front going forward. I would not suggest using it on a trail/mountain sled as it carries a lot of unsprung weight and doesn't maintain a consistent down pressure on your foot print like a fixed rail will do.

The latest Arctic Cat Ute sled has something similar in the rear of its skid.

Its only a standard 15 inch wide track, tunnel is the typical width. The widetrack's er what ever had a 20 inch wide track i believe? I wasnt planning on using it, just found it kind of interesting.
