Track alignment on 3"

How much rpm did you lose?

This last ride at Revy I was seeing 7600-7850 when I should be 8350. My first few Hindu miles I actually put 10-70's in at 5-6k because my RPM was 8300 with stock pipe.

I ended up with SLP setup and it has just slowly dropped on me.

Did kill my stock belt and had to throw an Ultimax on which I would expect to be 200 lower but not 600RPM.

Guess I'll put a new poo belt on and see what she does.

When you check your rollers be sure to put pressure on them. I lost 600rpm all of a sudden and when I first looked at the clutch I spun the rollers real quick with my finger but didn't put enough pressure on them to notice the problem.
Also is the sled pulling rpm on the trail and not in powder?

good point!

Another person posted on another sight that his rollers rolled fine with no pressure but hardly at all with pressure after fighting rpm issue for a while.
To verify he actually sprayed some lube in the roller and loosened it up and it worked good for a day and now was ordering new ones.

Pushed on the rollers as hard as I could, even swapped out both clutches with the ones off my 14, no changes.

I did measure my belt today and its worn .050", I have adjusted the secondary to correct the deflection but I'm starting to think this belt has stretched. I have the belt riding over an 1/8" above the secondary and it still has too much deflection.

Going to put on a new belt and see what happens. Eric

I'm having the same problem and cant figure it out. Ive had to drop about 3 grams on the weights to get my RPM back. My sled also seems to run too rich, even with the SLP pipe. The other thing I have noticed is the idle is not as smooth as it was, thing shakes as bad as my 14 does at idle and it wasnt like that when it was new. I have about 450 miles on now.

About your other question with the track...yes you need to align the drivers and that will require removing the drive shaft and putting in a press. Eric

Buddy had same problem running the SLP exhaust. Turned out those 70 gram weights wrecked the clutch rollers.

Been running the past 2 days in non ethanol mode and rolled past the 18 hr break in this morning. I gained 50-100 rpm from non ethanol mode but didn't change how the low-mid range felt. Until the 18 hr mark, the low-mid range felt much better. I have 280 miles and 22 hrs now and the sled absolutely rips. 8300 on all climbs, down the trail, in the powder. Fwiw my track is not centered on the drivers either, it is super close to the clutch side of the tunnel with a much larger gap on the quick drive side. Track tension/alignment is perfect.

New belt

Bought a new poo belt and went up today in 7 day old snow but got away from the tracks....regardless it was firm 2' of go anywhere but can trench down snow with light top 6" and it did immediately get 8300 RPM. I would imagine it would be better in the Revy blower snow I've been riding but this was near home on Mt Baker. I guess a new $200 belt every 600 miles to keep it Erving isn't too bad!

I checked my buddies 2.6 and it is close to left tunnel too so I guess it's not too much of a factor.

Thats good to hear. I ordered a new Polaris belt and the Gates carbon belt. Going to try them both, and hoping the new 90.00 belt works as good as the new 200.00 belt :)
I only got about 300 miles on mine before it lost RPM. Thats not very good but I do have a Mntek "blow hole" installed now and that thing works awesome, its like a hair dryer blowing out the side of the sled :) Eric

I've noticed this on my 155 2.6. sks. The track is actually rubbing on the forward left tunnel and fraying the edge of the track. I only have about 20 miles on the sled.

.

Did 3.2 track swap on my 2.6 163 Axis belt drive.
Did not measure track clearance from side to side before the swap.
I centerer the track and the Avid 7 tooth drivers perfectly in the tunnel .
I then installed the rear skid ( shortened rails with Anti Stab kit ) and found that the front of the rails where very close to touching the right side track knobs .
Removed the skid after rechecking everything and cut 3/16" off the left side upper front mounting tube and adding ( welded ) 3/16" tube spacer to the right side mount tube.
Now the skid is very close to perfectly centered in the track front and rear.
Hope my description makes sence .
I also added the TKI belt drive geared down a bit . 2.25 ratio
290 miles with this set up equally split between stock Polaris belt and Dayco 5030 belt. Did not notice a RPM difference between the two belts.
Running SLP pipe and SLP head with Resistor on Premium setting with posted 91 octane BC fuel . 4500' - 6500' Stock clutch springs and helix with Team Rooster weights at 76.5 grams. 8300 - 8475 rpm.

I'm sorry but blaming factory weights for rollers getting messed up is misinformation. 10-70's are stock for 0-3000 ft elevation. Chances are better that heat, debris, or just poor quality rollers were the problem.

Are you saying that the factory rollers may be poor quality? Heat and debris are pretty normal from one clutch to another. Sure you can clean them regularly but it must be obvious to most that the more forces put on the rollers the more abuse they will experience.

70 gram weights will not wreck rollers dude.
It's simple math.
I'm running 77 grams of weight and the rollers are perfect.
Turbo guys run 80+ grams.....

Some rollers last longer than others.
It can be an out of balance clutch.
A defective roller.
Or just bad luck......

Don't try to defend your error in judgment.
