TRA Talk............

Ya, who needs a primary spring.....just pretend it's a diesel and have a 3000rpm engagement.

LOL...You know what's funny is when i was in Montana the spring retainer washer broke so I literally had no spring pressure. It engaged at idle....Nice this was I cruised out at 3,000rpms at 40mph....but the sled would not rev over 5,000R's....lol

Before we added the spring control cup on the Polar primary it was breaking a spring every second ride. Didn't have a spare, so I just removed the primary spring from the clutch and rode without it. Engagement was about 3,200 RPM. Other than the engagement being a little low, the max RPM and power was all normal even without the spring. Polar uses a very light primary spring, which probably explains why the spring was distorting and breaking.

I also broke the primary spring in a Comet 109 four post a 100 miles back in the mountains. That Comet primary without a spring was not going to get me out of the mountains. Ended up taking the primary spring out of a dead Polaris and jamming it into the Comet. Worked perfectly. The design of all the primary clutches, except the TRA, allows them to be fixed out in the snow on the side of a mountain if need be.
