Tool kit
Hey guys, I am lookin to put together a better tool kit the POS i got from the dealer.
What do you guys use for tool bag or pouch and what tools do you carry?
Thanks in advance.
BTW the sled i have is a 07 D7, if that helps any
ALASKA,
I have the same D7, and I keep the tools in a Kathadin "teardrop" pouch (part # KG01392, $14.95 @ J.R. Graham,
www.jrgraham.com)
Tools in the pouch:
3/8" drive metric set w/ratchet
approx 5 open end wrenches
1 medium adjustable wrench
fold-up combo metric allen
fold-up torx combo
(2) vice grips, med/needle nose
(4) hose clamps
combo screwdriver
2' 12 gauge electrical wire
When I had a carbed sled, I would bring a couple of extra c-clips for the needles in a small plastic bag, along with some phillips head float bowl screws, as well.
I put that into the POLARIS bag along with a roll of duct tape, tow strap, extra fuel line, 2 shop rags.
In addition I have a large SnoBunje bag for 3 to 4 days worth of clothes for our multi-day back pack trips.
Last year my bud lost a piston on my old 2001 EDGE-X 600, (he still thinks it came with the life-time warranty road-side assisstance program) we were 200 + miles away from the truck and trailer, Tom's POLARIS from Ontonogan in the U.P. was kind enough to deliver a piston to us from an hour away. With the above basic tools we changed out the piston in approx 2 hours working outdoors in the parking lot @ the Parkview in Twin Lakes, U.P. and drove it out of there later that evening.
Hope this helps
