Took my daughter trick or treating last night....

I consider myself middle class, I doubt you would since I'm in the 5%. It really depends on where someone lives as well, not just income. I do well where I live, but if I was living in NYC or San Fran, not so much. I guess I'd really be living high on the hog if I lived in some Podunk place.

To me, upper class is not having to work for a living and still being able to do what you want, and I'm still gonna be working for a long time.

I'm in the top 25%. I guess I figured that the middle class was this large group of folks that encompassed maybe 80% or the population. with 10% under and 10% over. Then there was lower middle, middle and upper middle. times they are a change'n.

i'm not even in the 50% category, almost hit that mark bout oh 4 years ago then my wages started goin backwards. yup, Obama sure has done a fine job on the economy and helping us poor folks out.

It isn't his job to get people jobs and help poor folks out. That is YOUR job. Sorry you were misinformed.

You might make enough to get you in the 5%, but if you spend like you are in the top 3%, then you will feel poor. There are a lot of poor people that make a lot of money. Debt can get everyone, the rich are just able to get into more debt...

Wow.. I thought you got some of this. You will never get to the upper class if it is defined like this. Most people seem to live AT their means. The more money they make, the more they spend, not save. Therefore as they increase their income, it doesn't feel like they are making any headway or getting "rich" because they just spend more.

i never said it was his job or fault my wages went down, just stating what has happened and that he hasn't done nothing to make the economy better over the past 4 years like he swore he would.

He is not responsible for making it better, regardless of what he said. Note presidents promise the world during election season, just like the rest of the politicians.

oh, and he's the one makin all the empty promises about savin the poor folks and teaching them its ok to be worthless and not support yourself cuz your entitled to someone else's hard earned doh. besides I'm a young single white male, i wouldn't get any gov. help if i wanted it.

So?

so he's a big part of the problem with this country. i agree that politicians promise the world to get elected then do whatever they want once in office, that's where it gets a bit funny over everybody being so shore what romneys gonna do. nobody knows what he may do whether its good or bad but we have seen what Obama will do and i haven't seen nothing good come of that so its time to try something new.

I think WE are a big problem with this country. We fall for it every time. We want our president to promise us the world then get mad when they don't deliver, all the while blaming the government for everything in the process.

The only ones to blame are ourselves.

Trust me, I get it. As I have made more, I have started paying cash for my cars and toys, I started paying double on my mortgage, and increased the percentages that I contribute to my retirement.
I guess that's why I say that I still feel like I'm in the middles class, I don't have a super fancy house, and the cars I'm driving aren't as fancy as I could afford. I'm trying to enjoy life and save for the future and balance the 2.

Once the house is paid off, do you think you will feel like you belong in the top 5%?

Yes, and that is my biggest goal right now. 5-7 more years depending on how well work goes.

It's funny, I went golfing with my dad today and we were having this conversation. He wouldn't come close to middle class based on his taxable income, but he's retired now and spends a lot of days on the course, sounds like upper class to me. Joking about that, but when I get to do what I want to do on a daily basis, that is living the high life.

Corporate profits are at all time high.

Wealthy Americans have never had a bigger piece of the pie since the roaring 20's.

These are undisputed facts and somehow Obama isn't pro-business and against the wealthy.

Wake up! Keep believing that voting one talking puppet over another makes a difference to the average family. They've all been bought and paid for!

If you think voting for Romney who made hundreds of millions of dollars using leveraged buyouts to offshore thousands of American jobs to Asia cares about you, you need to go back to bed.

I'm a political atheist so don't try and call me pro anything. I'm just trying to wake some people up from their blind political beliefs.

All politicians love true believers and donors.:yo:

Snowmobiler, I hope even u can understand the simple economics of why gas was that cheap when Obama took office. It shouldn't be difficult to see the correlation between the economy and gas prices. When the economy is bad=low gas prices. Good economy=Higher gas prices.

partially correct... it has to do with the falling value of the dollar... print lots of money (what they are doing now) it causes the value to drop
