too dang hard on sleds!!!

is anyone else just naturaly hard on there sleds? my dad can keep his sled in mint condition for years at a time, ive broken my steering post twice now! and have bent my running boards i weigh 170lbs. i just cant help throwing my sled around hard. i hope the new cat bars are a little more durable i have to get a new sled every year almost.

Some people go out into the mountains and ride...others go out into the mountains and watch people ride. :beer;

Same for me. If I could go through a season without replacing parts I'd have a Turbo by now.Last season was hard on the wallet, but the memories and lessons learned make it all balance out.

Dave

first ride of season....$2 grand....third ride of season...$1500...etc. etc. etc.

Hah, yeah. It was pretty funny two seasons ago, every ride something was getting duct taped, bailing wired, or bolted back together. Last season wasn't much better even though I only had two rides.....

I figure if I dont break anything I wasnt really trying hard enough......but then again it really puts a hurt on the wallet. My sleding is cheaper now...man the first sled I owned I rebuilt several times due to untimely crashs into trees.

Yep, Supplicate riding frankinsled. It was always fun to see him just to see what he broke, bent or mashed since last time.

There is a reason I always mod my sleds chassis to take a serious beating.
Pretty much everyone I know has a special fund just so they have the cash reserves to fix busted parts before the next weekend.

As said by the great one Dave Knight, "If you ain't wreckin', you ain't ridin'."

Yes that is one way to look at it

But the other is if you keep crashing you don't know how to ride. :face-icon-small-win

I have busted my share of parts, been towed out many times and i have many friends that have as well. However, as long as you don't have to be towed out every ride its ok to wreck and ride. But if my friends end up having to be towed out every weekend they can find some new people to ride with. It always sucks when you have to cut your day short because someone made a bad decision and smashes into a tree. Accidents do happen and i understand that but when its just a stupid decision that could have been avoided that wrecks the sled, that's when I get annoyed.

not to mention..where we normally ride..when you do something dumb and kill/wreck a sled...the rest of us have to put our stuff at risk to get yours back to the parking lot..acidents happen for sure..but stupid isnt good....

Is there ever a timely crash into a tree?

Ski (snapped in two while I was riding)
bumper(s)
handlebars (bent with chest after hitting a rock and going airborne)
torque stop (destroyed the threads twice), likely motor mounts
taillight
tail end of the tunnel's tweaked

yeah, i wreck a lot
