Toms Powder Wedge

I know that. I was asking what they might do if you put them on an 08-09.

They will fit on the 08-09.
In a stationary position, (on your trailer), they will bulge the track slightly, but understand, the biggest benefit is when your front arm and or rails are collapsing from snow pressure. That is when you see the biggest curvature from the track. It has nothing to do when it is stationary.
Remember, it is called a powder wedge for a reason. It is not intended for high speed trails.

Just got mine in over the weekend. As always looks like another quality product from www.shoptomssnowmobile.com.

I thinking that I will put mine in on the trailer this week so I can get a real feel the difference these little gems are going to make. Can't wait!

Thanks again to Tom for always helping push the already great doo designs to the the next level.

And that is what I wanted to hear. I don't ride trails so I think I'm good there

installed, nice fit and high quality.. riding thur in hopefully 3 ft cascade concrete. i aready have 700 miles on my 154 xm without the wedges. so i should notice something.

I've put them on mine and I can tell a difference. Three of four times today I was in situations in the trees where I was sure I was going to get stuck, but the XM stayed on top of the snow and just kept going. You will still get stuck with the wedges, just not as often.

You don't have to pull the track to install, correct? looks like you could just wiggle them into place, maybe loosen the track a little. Got a couple of sets on order last night.

You don't have to do anything other than lay the sled over on its side and line up track slots to get the bottom bolt out the rail tips. I didn't really notice a big difference on the 163 xm for getting up on the snow, but made a substantial difference on my wifes 600 154 etech.

They want you to trim a little off the edge of the hyfax, but I didn't do anything but bolt them on. The sleds with 2 limiter straps (XM) you may have to trim a little off the wedge to clear the strap. No biggy.

You'd think both sleds would see the exact same results, given the rails are only a different length. They both have the same attack angle don't they? Are both suspensions set up equal? Why do you think your 154 is more substantial than the other? (Just curious- I've got a set coming too)

If I had to throw a guess it would be the track difference, her 2012 track seems to jump up on the snow immediately and is very noticeable. I am not seeing as big of a gain on the xm in the same conditions, but once again just a guess.

Makes sense, the XM skid is different geometry and gets "on top" better than the XP to begin with.

skid removal not necessary...unless you are installing a 3" track at the same time

My bad... I thought they were both XM's!

I just put the powder wedges as well as the ski bushing kit on my XM. Today will be the first ride. I also moved the rear scissor arm back 3/4of an inch to try and get it to quit trenching. Love the sled but it trench's pretty bad in our dry western snow.
