Togwotee Guide (from TML) 2/19

I have seven guys staying at TML, riding 2/19-2/21. Any local guides (or locals that know the mtn cold that want to ride with us for a great tip) available to guide us at least day one. All experienced riders, several have been to TML many times but thought we would get a guide for day 1 to find the best snow.

Wanted Carter from the lodge but he is not available and we are not about to pay what they want to ride with 5 additional (total 11) riders just to be with Carter.

Get a hold of Cameron. He is 10 high extreme on here. He lives up in Dubois most of the time. If he is up there he would show you around up there.
He helps Joe (snocross338) in the Snowies guiding.

Thanks turbo, but only if he wears the spike mohawk:) Think that was him I met at the denver snow show. PM sent.

Rode with Brent from the lodge on Mon and Tues...Top notch guy and will challenge any level of rider. Took us to the DEEEEP stuff and only used trails for getting over the road and skimpy spots...

You could call Brooks lake lodge they have Joe and Dave for guides because they are so slow they are also working out of Lava mtn..........

Carter is the favorite, but I rode 4 days with Brent last year and he was great to ride with. Found us deep POW and is an overall good guy. Good luck.

Are you guys paying $59 per rider no matter how many riders you have?

I'm heading out this Saturday morning. You need to be careful with guides though. Sometimes the group grows and you never know who you might be riding with. Last December we ended up riding with "Team Rang Dang" or something like that with a guy named Pat who just kept shooting video and getting stuck! :D.

Come on out! Togger will be there and will need someone to dig him out...

And who would this be

No takers so far. Those of you using guides at the lodge, what have you been paying. They told me $59 per sled, no min no max...which at 8 sled seems very high. And they said we would be at least one other group.

Tips on getting the best deal for ONLY our group of 8 sleds?

That is indeed the going rate. A couple years ago the rate was $35/person. I might suggest that you talk in terms of paying for a guide for multiple days. That may help. I know they have been slow, and if you were staying there it would cost around $100/person/day for guide, meals, happy hour and a half, and lodging. At that rate you are basically paying for the guide and food/drinks and getting your room for free. But, you probably already have your lodging figured out.

They said the guide is free if you have the room package (room and food). Well hell we'll be eating and drinking like 500lb men for three days but didn't purchase the package.

Sorry Newmy. Just ran the numbers myself for my March trip and was trying to give you a perspective of how to get the $60/day/person number down. If you end up deciding to pay their $59/day/person rate, that means your lodging, food and a happy hour would need to cost you $41/day or less for you to be money ahead. If you found that deal, great. If not, you may want to consider staying at the lodge for cost and convenience. I agree it's a lot of money and I spend half that to sled in the Snowies. But, if you want the guides, that's what it costs is what I've concluded.

Agreed. Just upgraded to the package on both cabins.
