Tobacco Chewers

25 years here too but still chewing. Was there anything that helped you? If I could find something that would give off a little burn in the lip.

This addiction is not just as simple as Manning Up!!

MH is correct. This is a drug and a very bad one. The most addicting drug there is and the most difficult to quit. The body goes through severe chemical shock when an everyday used drug is removed from the body.

For me it's not the pyschological symptoms; those are nothing. It's the physical symptoms.

Mine started playing baseball when I was 13. That little circle in the back pocket was cool. Then there are activities we do. Go fishin, in goes a chew. Work on the sled or your truck, in goes a chew. Before you throw on the helmet regardless of the sport, in goes a chew. After a meal, in goes a chew.

To the original poster, please quit while you are young! I know you probably hear it all the time but I cannot stress enough how much easier it is to quit when you are young. I would do it many times and then go duck hunting or fishing with someone who was using it and bang...

If you keep doing it, it gets much more difficult to quit and then you start moving the chew around to other areas of the mouth from the advice of your Dentist. Once you wear the lower lip out, you will begin using your upper lips.

Might sound impossible but it is very easy.

My driving force was for my daughters. The way I see it is to lead by example. Real tough for me to warn about and criticize bad habits when I am displaying my own. I figure they will have enough tough decisions from friends and social media, they don't need me influencing the wrong way. Everytime I wanted to take a chew, I thought of them with one in there lip. Thirty to sixty days was the worst for me. Once past a couple of months it was just a matter of telling myself NO.

I smoked and chewed for about 18 years, but I quit cold turkey for my job(health benefits cost a extra 100 a month if i smoked or chewed)You just have to want to quit.Just like others have said on here stop now while your still young and still have good health, It will save you in the long run.

Ive chewed for i dont know how long, but its the hardest thing ive ever tried to do. Quitting i mean, ive quit a a few times and then i get around someone who does and i start back up again. Its a nasty habit that i wish i never started but i did and now i have to fight the battle. Keep at it and you can do it. Im going to start with you so maybe we can suppot each other lol. Im going to finish this last can and then go cold turkey. I guess there is one way to think of it. Just look at the money you save and that is more money you can put into your sled or maybe an extra weekend of sledding.

My switch was sunflower seeds...I can still eat a whole bag of them if I'm not careful.
I ate those when i quit the first time, i bet i put on 25 pounds from them. Im going to try either lemon drops(i know a guy who used them to quit) or maybe fireballs, or just gum.

I chewed on and off since high school. mostly on during high school and college then quit once it hurt my mouth pretty bad everytime i put a dip in. Then started doing the on/off thing for a few years. Was chewing pretty heavy during my g/f's pregnancy last year. One look at my son when he was born and I quit. He will be a year old in 7 days! No plan on starting up ever again as I found it harder and harder to quit the older I got. I'm 30 years old now.

anyone ever tried gettin sick off it? I know gettin sick off something ruins it for a long long time. I still hate the smell of SoCo...

I go in streaks, just recently started my cold turkey quit again. hope it lasts... hardest part is long drives by myself or wrenchin on the sled in the garage... and campfires of course. Just keep thinkin i'm doing myself a favor in the long run.
