To much Boost !!!!!!!!!

W
Well lost the rod yesterday on the Boosted Nytro. I want to run rods and pistons. What are the best low compression parts to go with. I would like part #'s and who I can get them from. I have been told to go with Corrillo Rods and J & E Pistons ???
What do you guys think???

What boost/fuel/AF were you runnin? I run Carillos and JEs up to 20-25 lbs on 110, no problems.

Damage

Dont know yet? I know the piston hit the #1 plug pretty good. Head may be damaged. I will tear down this week. As for a/f I dont really know. I was running about 18lbs on straight 110 with no head shim. A certian company that I bought a certian turbo kit from said this would be no problem.
I have had several problems over the last few weeks with this turbo. I put a new turbo on last week due to "Oil pump update issues" and have been testing and trying to get right. I usually try to run a/f at 12.5 give or take a few. I run the prologger with the "Never lean" feature, but not sure it was working properly....

Anyone want to buy the sled....As-Is ?? (LOL)

I cant believe people buy turbo kits and dont use headshims or low comp pistons. And then expect to push the limits.

Ya, Boondockers tells Apex guys they can run 19 psi stock compression with good gas. Don't know what they told you on the Nytro. I understand why (don't agree) they want Apex guys to keep stock compression, for throttle response with the header on the bd Apex and head shim you get some good lag. I don't know why they would recommend that on the Nytro though because it's a midmount and the Nytro can take a gt42r and still feel responsive with a head shim lol.

I have ran the Apex on 18ish pounds, but ran 116 at 10,000'. I will be doing the same with the Nytro here shortly, and maybe with a little Nitrous mixed in. With 110 I would not run more than 14-15lbs at 8500'. Someone ****ed up on that advice!

yes like most guys have said corrillos with je pistons & stock rings that is what outlaw runs the pistons are special cut for the stock rings.oh how much you want for it as is:D.

Just a quick guide on the nytro I have found:

14 PSI = Max boost on stock injectors

15 PSI = Max boost without head shim or low comp pistons

18 PSI = Max boost on stock rods

10 PSI = Max boost on stock motor without meth or straight race gas

This is not gospel, just a guidline I go by, so don't call me if you broke a rod at 17.99999999 psi.

:D

the stock rods are not the problem, I ran 22 lbs with a 30 hp. shot last year no problems, the rod most likely failed due to deto, it hammers the bearing out and then the rod fails. what elevation where you running at.
