I just picked up a MCX Nytro with a 162"Maverick track, timbersled rear skid. Was out on the weekend for first ride not alot of snow but still nice for a short ride. Was able to make a couple of climbs on a foot of fresh snow but came down holy sht fast. Would changing the track to a challenger 162 improve braking. Are there advantages to having the Maverick?

I suppose it depends on where you live how you ride and snow conditions. I had a Maverick on my t Apex It was a great track for me in the powder But in the hard pack it realy sucks get beat by a stock rev in a 100 yard drag race when you are sitting on a 300 hp sled. My next track was a camo 162 x 2.5 x16 Traction was no longer a issue but the sled lost a lot of fun factor and was hard to boondock with and control ( for ME) so the nytro was stock in the late spring and now it has a 153 X 2 camo challenger I dont know if this is the right choice I suppose if the skis will stay within 2 ft of the snow I will be ok with it.
The power claw is a interesting track But for a Turbo sled in heavy wet snow like We have in the pac n/w It may be to soft.

it shouldnt come down hill too fast with the stock track, make sure its not reversed though . really only 2 track choices . the camo extreme 2.5 is what most guys run , its up to you if u want to move up to the 16inch wide. thats what im going to run this year. the second choice is the powder claw , a new track that looks like it should do the trick as well.

I ran the Mav 162 X 16 on my Nytro last year. I ran it backwards and it worked pretty good, although I guess it was a little fast coming down some hills, LOL. My son ran a camo extreme on his Apex and has me convinced to put one on the Nytro this year after his positive comments. Going with a 162 X 16 wide again. The Mav is still a good option and they can be had for a lot less money.

I'd buy the CE. The powerclaw hasn't even made it on the snow yet. Let someone else be the guinne pig

For those that say to run a challenger, are you all talking challenger extreme with 2.5" paddles? Has anyone tried a regular challenger 2.25" lugs. I see there are a lot of arctic cat take offs for sale.

Is that so. That one I ran last year must have been a look a like generic reproduction.
Sawyer is wrong, the power claw was on the snow last year and it works very well. Thank You:eek:

there were about 15 on sleds most of last season...one of them is a T-Nytro owner, cannot remember his username...

His comments when I PM'ed with him were what made me go this route...So, I am one of the "guinne pig's"

also, rode it last year on the demo sleds in bottomless snow, and htye were incredible!!!!

That was me you talked to last year MTdream. Have u gotten a chance to ride with that track on yet?
Any change to get rid of the Mav. is probably a good change.

ROFL, you must have been posting right when I was :)

it is on, and awaiting snow!!! went to align the track last night only to find other issues...but CANNOT wait to play on it!!!

yeah sorry forgot the S/N and have to clear out PM box too often so I didnt save the message...

I know when we lined up all four tracks with teh new 09 M8's in West the PowerClaw did better than the others, climbed better, seemed to carve better, didnt trench as much...granted we did not have icey conditions so I cant speak to braking going down hill (which was issue for Attack20)

but hey, paint me guinea pig black...I am game from what I saw, and what I have experienced, adn what Wyo had for feedback, besides, buying it from FreeAgent was VERY reasonable!!!!

This Maverick track i have is a 16" wide and is turned backwards. Should it be turned around and tried this way?

Just started ording parts for my nytro and was wondering if i can clear a 2.5 track with the stock tunnel? was hoping to change the tunnel but they seem to be 8-10 weeks out.. any help would be appreciated...:beer;:beer;

Yes, there is about a 1/4" to 3/8" clearance.
