TM1000 Burndown with pics

Don't let this happen to you! During knock, or detonation, the piston overheats quickly. In fact it only takes a few seconds until it finally melts or scuffs up tight, also referred to as a seizure

i can tell you as of today we ran our tm1000 motor 9 hours on the engine dyno with our standalone ecu and with timming adjustment, you can run 9 lbs of boost at see level with 91 octan fuel with absolutely no fear what so ever.but once again, timming must be adjusted accordingly. the turbo kit we are using is a cpc kit(wich is by the way amazing fit !!)

I believe most of the issues are due to the extra timing advance in the mid-range on the bigbore 1000's that is built into the stock ecu, so if you can control that, you can probably get away with less octane. But without a det sensor, they are less forgiving than the M8's unless you are paying close attention to your tuning.

For sure on our engine dyno we have a knock module.....without a det sensor like the m1000, you don't have much time to react to detonation!!!especially on boost when running the sled .

maybe the a/f pistons melt faster.

I heard once, Jeff at dakota performance could hook up a nock sensor like the m8 on a m1000. I don't know if its true but it would be sweet to have.

I would give Shain Stanger a call at Twisted Turbo. He is very knowledgeable and friendly.

BUT, I seem to have some bad luck.

Sounds like you do have some bad luck, Fall down a cliff, blow up the sled. Man, that SUCKS. dont give up there will be good rides to come. I will agree w/the lean burn down. I deto an engine on a TM7 and the spark plug electrodes were burnt off. Good luck on the build. Might as well make her a 1200 with some boost.

Ya, it's been a rough start....and that's all in the first 2 rides of the season. LOL:D Still trying to heal up from the fall.:( I'm looking forward to those better times, believe me.

Just for future reference Muriatic Acid and a q-tip work good for taking aluminum off cylender walls. Good luck to you.

Ya, I spent about an hour and a half trying toj clean it up with muratic acid, there was a 1/8" chunk missing in the nikasil....had no choice but to send it out to be replated.

also just gunna chime in and say lean also, no deto IMO, this wouldnt have happend with carbs alan!!!!!

Hope you get it back up and running soon!!!! Get the box checked out!!!!!
