Do I really need one for my sled? I bought a 02 Polaris a couple of years ago in ID and the guy I got it from had traded a 4 wheeler to get it and the guy he got it from traded a guy out of UT for something as well. So neither one of them had a title issued in their names they just signed the UT title. Well the DMV was running me in circles trying to figure out what to do when I finally gave up because there wasn’t an issue registering it so I said F it at the time. Now I’m starting to wonder if I screwed up if I ever want to sell this thing in the future. Thought maybe it really isn’t necessary, I bought a 1985 Ski Supreme Boat one time and the DMV told me the title was a waste of time for a boat older than a 1995. Thought that was a little wired but went with it and didn’t have any problems selling it like that. Anyone have a similar experience or know what I should do to get a title?

Depends. Does the state you live in require a title for a sled? If so, you will need one to sell the sled.
No title needed in Colorado,all you have to do is sign that you are the legal owner.Seems kind of foolish since were talking about sleds that cost$10,000 or more
In Montana a title and bill of sale are required to register or sell a sled. If the original has been lost you can file a lost title form to try and get a new one. Maybe ID has something like that?
In Idaho you need a title to register and get your sticker. You can get by for a year and maybe two, after that they won't sell you a sticker - personal experience
So I wonder what would be the easiest way to get a title just tell the DMV that it is a lost title and see what they can do?
