timbersled bark buster?

Yup, the weld pretty much came apart 3/4 of the way around, you can see the weld had been cracked for some time because its rusty all the way around the break. Of course when that part broke the rear pretty much just twisted and tore open.

I have actually installed the Timbersled Barkbuster on 2 of my own sleds and again on my new build.

I can say from actual hands on experience, on my own personal sleds, that these arms are very strong and live up to their name.

I rode the 38" wide last season on my Dragon... It was a bit too narrow for the wide & rounded bodywork of the Dragon...
AND would be STELLAR on the narrow bodywork of the PRO if you are more of a boondocker than a steep climber/jumper.

I think that the Z-Broz are of equal quality to the Timbersled and have nothing but good things to say about their products. I had them on my 900 3 seasons ago and was very happy with them.

I spoke with Nate on Friday... they are 2-3 weeks out new orders and are filling current orders in the order received.

What's your opinion on the 38 arms on the pro? With the different spindle does the sled handle any better? What shock length are they using for the 38in? Would the 16.6 shock length work good with these arms?

AK... Boy... you did some archive digging for this thread...Feb 2011.

2 seasons have gone by with that last post... so heres the new info

I rode the Prototype of the new spindles last season on the 38" with the NEW spindles on a 2012 PRO 800.

I'll be installing this into my 2013 in a couple of weeks... I'm on a road trip north and will get the deluxe tour of the Timbersled factory and put together my front end with the help of the owner, Allen Mangum, at his shop in Ponderay ID... I'll plug him for info along with the install.. (with pics)

The new TS spindles are a bit more neutral in handling but definitely more responsive to rider input than the stock front end but not overly so... they tailored the spindle design to the more aggressive mountain rider ...

The stock PRO RMK spindles were designed to perform for most consumers in trail and off trail equally well.. but not excell at one or the other... which the TS is designed to do.

I'm told that TS designed their front to focus on the off-trail mountain rider. Allen designed it as a system and has come up with what he feels is the best combination of travel and handling (the 16.6" shocks give up travel to the previous years)

The spindles are billet/Hard-ano since 2011/12 season with bronze bushings... no bolt bending there... I think that would be the early models with fabricated tubular ones for the XP's alone.

Of the "narrow" front ends... this one at 38" is 1 - 2" wider than others... and I feel gives you a good balance if you are going with a narrow front end.

None of the stock PRO RMK shocks will work with the TS Bark Busters...Though you can find Dragon Shocks that will fit perfectly... lots of those for sale in the swapmeet or new.

I have a set of fox float 2 16.6 in length with 10 mm bushing on both ends was just wondering if these would work? There website says they use 17 in shocks.

You'd have to give them a call.. but IMO... dropping your front end by 1/2" is not the best idea for handling.

JMO but your selling yourself short by not calling Alternative I.I have Dans arms on my Assault after comming off a set of Z bros. Have never looked back. His customer service is second to none. Answered the phone on sunday evening to make the sale. First ride out i did hit a burried foundation and bent the heim on the lower. As far as im concerned it saved the arm and cost me $17.00 to repair. Now i have an extra in my tool kit. Not to mention even the 2013's are lighter than stock, not heavier.

watch my brother hit a stump going down trail in bc about 25 mph stoped him dead busted ski in half bent shock and only bent top a arm( timbersled) still ripn with it on no issues new onewill be here this week, dam good product crazy strong imo

I ordered new frontend today. Wanted to go with the barkbuster kit but sled solutions got me hooked up with a set of zbroz with exit shocks for $500 less than timbersled. I really wanted the barkbuster but couldnt justify paying that much more.

anyone try this yet?complete 38" frontend kit for pro.bent right side upper and lower over weekend over 2" stump.A-arms seem week.

I have taken on so many objects with these A-Arms. From small saplings to huge tree trunks. Actually while riding with Allen from TS I took on a rather large tree and his comment was "That really isn't what they are intended to take on...." lol But it withstood the blow.

I've actually had these same A-arms for 2 full seasons, this will be their 3rd. I'm amazed they've last that long. See picture below, this is a regular occurrence with me. :) LOL

As far as the handling. I can't imagine that it can get any better. I am fighting shoulder and elbow issues and the ability to lay over and hold over without any effort is important right now. The carve (I hate to say turn as to me, turn=both skis on ground) is insane, I can almost turn/carve this sled inside itself.
