I'm not sure which is better. Following your mex ars or being in front of you to munch one.

I know following you can be interesting to say the least!

When I go with the logan crew, I'm always last, so when I get people behind me I don't know how to act. I try ro keep my arse straight though.:face-icon-small-con:D:beer;
You guys making the trip for the premier?

Unknown at this point. All depends on my bike being put back together.:face-icon-small-con

Please Motofrugals. Please get his bike put together. Not that I don't like Premiers. Just not on a Saturday. I would rather ride and relax at the cabin.

Whats wrong with you're bike ron?

The joys of owning a Honda "VALVES"
Dropped off the new ones at Lindsay Machine this morning. They have the head and should have it back together by the weekend ( I Hope).

Had to fire up the boat last weekend for something to do.:D

That sucks... My brother on his 05 has had some issues... My pa and I on 06s and my buddy on his 07 have not had issues at all.

I just hope Steel valves will minimize this. Arrrrg

Yeah, 05 here.

I fargin hate down time. :(

Not to say my brother has got it wrong, but you have to take into consideration that Mike (my brother) only starts his bike once or maybe twice a year. My dad rides his quite a bit but not nearly as hard as I do on my '05 and our friend Dean on his '07 hasn't had to replace valves that I know of, just put new shims in, which is all I've had to do. Dean does ride his bike a lot. Mike is thinking of my '02 that I did have to replace a valve once. I might be having a little better luck with the '05 because I run a little leaded race gas in with regular to cushion the valves. I always have extra from the winter that I know won't last till next winter, so I started running it in the CRF.

I ride about 150 miles a week, so I'm not complaining at all. One side could no longer be shimmed so new valves were needed. You're right though, if you don't ride they'll last forever.
Any mods on your bike?
I'm running: Stage 2 Hot Cam, Wiseco 12.5:1, Carls Jet Kit, R Pipe w/ PMB Endcap.

No mods, bone stock.

Ya, my memory is not the best.
My bike does not get ridden a TON, but for an 06 it is waaaaay past due for a valve shim.
Still starts great when hot and no irratic idle... When it does get ridden you can bet it gets ridden hard.

Like I said, my memory is not the best, but I recall Dave Barber telling me that with cams, stiff valve springs and high compression they tend to wear a lot quicker.
I also beleive he told me the steel valves will beat up the seats worse.
He did mostly 450 quads, but that was what he found.
May be worth it to run a gallon of 110 leaded to 5 gallons pump.

This is how I understood it to be::D

To make a long story short, the cylinder head is cast aluminum,
since it is such a soft metal you have to install what is called a valve
seat which is a much harder metal, where the face of the valve
meets the head. Honda runs titanium valves. The problem with
titanium valves is that titanium is a very soft metal. Honda coats the
intake valves with a hard coating so that they can withstand hitting
the hardened valve seat. This coating can only take so much of a
beating before the hardened valve surface starts to wear it in. So, at
the end the titanium valves wear much faster than the stainless steel
valves.

BTW:
Is this thread officially hijacked????

Yeah, you pretty much jacked this one up. Your like speaking another language. One of these days I'll get it!:lips:

Anyway.....

How long does this premier last????

That makes sense ron.
I also know that extended high revs is not good.
When I bought my 450 I was used to my 2 smoker and over reved the crap out of it... Learn to short shift and engine life will be extended.

GP... Thunderstruck, after party=ALL NIGHTER!

tried to rework some valves/head/springs/shims myself...it was Epic Fail on my part:(...the steel will last longer and its best to toss in some race fuel, your valves will thank you

i still got 30 or so gallons of 112 if you want to buy some, i think its 7/gal in bulk??

Awesome Ray, I'll bring :beer;:beer; and 2-5 gallons cans over.;)
I'll give you a call.

Does that mean you are coming?????? Our friends backed out tonight cause of a wedding they have to attend!! So we are still comin down to the premier. Is Rons bike fixed???

No, we'll just have to get the movie to add to the collection at the cabin. We felt like riding instead of watching a movie of others riding. The hubs bike should be ready this afternoon and we'll pick it up on the way out of town. Then hopefully we can ride Saturday, Sunday, eat some dinner, and relax watching sled flicks.:D
You should really consider a fall ride with us. It would be a blast! And extremely beautiful!
