I think this was about 5 years over due. He will do better somewhere new and the Broncos will do better with a new coach. Somebody mentioned Marty Schottenheimer - I would never watch another Broncos game if he became coach. In fact, I might become a Raiders fan if he came here. (And I'd rather ride a ski doo than be a raiders fan!)
This will go down as the dumbest move in NFL history!

I would agree with the minority that says this may not be a bad move. Only 1 playoff win since Terrell Davis left. Since he is in total control of football operations in Denver and his teams continue to come up short....hardly a "what have you done for me lately" issue.
That being said, he probably will coach again and do a good job. Sometimes a change of pace is needed for everybody.

Broncos were 24-24 for the last three years, no playoffs, poor personal decisions. Shanny is a great coach but his time has come in Denver. Time to move on. Best of luck to him.

I cannot believe that no one has brought up the crappy coaching in Detroit!!! Most of the games this year they were in competitively for all but one quarter. Maybe the first quarter, sometimes the last quarter. I call that poor coaching. I would vote for Shanny to lead the Lions. Marrinelli needs the hint to not coach any more.

I don't think Shanahan would have gotten as far as he has if he wouldn't of had Elway. A few years back when he pulled Plummer and put in the rookie Cutler, IMHO I thought was a boneheaded move. Plummer may have not been well liked, but he was not the problem. The defense has been steadily getting worse to pretty much pathetic this year, I think it is time for a change. We shall see if the change is for the better or for the worse.

If so, no way. I would put my money that Dallas fires Wade Phillips and Shanahan goes there. He already tried to bring TO to Denver, ironically Phillips was fired in Denver and replaced with Shanahan.
I would love for Cower to end up in Denver but I am not sure it will happen.
Singletary is already in San Fran. That is a done deal. If it were NOT done yet, I would place my money on Shanny ending up there, but that won't happen now that Singletary has been given the go.

Once again, all the pieces would be there for Shanahan to take a talented team over the top.....just like in Denver.
I don't think the Jets are that close. Favre if he comes back is not what Shanny wants to deal with. The same reason that Cower told them no is why Shanny would do the same.
shanahan was overdue to see the outside of the door....he did a good job for a while, but he and the broncos needed a change......

You are saying the Chargers have had a lot of injuries? Hardly comparable to what he Broncos have had. WE put 16 players on the season ending IR list. That does not include players like Champ and DJ Williams that were out for extended periods of time. We went through something like 6 running backs alone.
Chargers are just underachievers. Norv Turner would have got the ax if he lost to the Broncos, and frankly he still should. He inherited a Super Bowl contending team and managed to make them a .500 team.

I just heard that the Broncos signed the coach the Chargers should have kept, you know the one that went 14-2 and lost his job....

Where did you hear the Broncs signed Schottenheimer? If so I hope they pick up Phillips to be d-coordinator if Shanny replaces him in Dallas. That being said, if doesn't mean a heck of a lot until we find out who will be GM.

Every real fan said "WTF" when we dissed Marty and Drew....not that phillip has done a bad job, but we built a great team with drew and marty would of got us a ring and some much needed respect in the NFL.....oh well, it could be worse
