Obviously you either shot him close to the pick-up or used a quad to haul him out of the woods. Around here (Montana) you can't retrieve game with a motorized vehicle unless you don't leave the road or trail. The only options we have is either to haul it out on your back or pack it out with horses. To see an elk hanging whole is quite a sight, they are such amazing animals. Heres a pic. of my 330 6x7 from '07.
