Thinking of going from 08 M1000 to 09 M1000 or 10 M8

So my 08M1000 runs great. I just would like to lighten it up a bit, 09 rear bumper,...etc. Electronic reverse would be nice, or an M8 with an SLP pipe without a fuel box would be nice too. What's my 08 M1000 162 with 350 miles on it worth? I would probably keep the boss seat and C&A skis and put on the new one. What are 09 M1000's or 2010 M8's going for these days in a 162?

Buddy just gave $8500 for a brand new leftover 09 M1000....

Dealers cost on a new M8 Sno-Pro 162 is a tad over 10 grand...$10,300-$10,400.00 I think.

The 10' 153 M8 Sno-Pro I almost bought was $10,253.00 plus tax.

New 08' M1000's are selling for $7200.00 on Flea-Bayhttp://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2008...19b89e0a98QQitemZ110471547544QQptZSnowmobiles

New 09' 162 Sno-Pro M1000's are 9 grand:http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Arct...56380a46ebQQitemZ370307385067QQptZSnowmobiles

Cant see a used 08' M1000 doing much better than 6 grand on Craigslist and much less on trade. $4800 wholesale trade value to a dealership maybe?

This economy is hard on new sled sales as well as used....I had tossed around the thought of selling or trading my 09' XP with a coupla hunnert miles on it and buying a 2009 M1000 162 adding all the goodies and calling it done..... Then I realized my new to me XP wasnt worth a half pile of dawgshat and three kernels of corn!!

Needless to say I got the creepy handling issues ironed out and I'm keeping the XP....I still really want a white sno-pro 162" M1000 though and if I stumble into one for durty cheap? I'm making my move with ya!!!

I think I could do better than six grand selling it myself. 350 miles, lots of add ons, power claw... its about as nice of an 08 as there is. I will probably just keep it, but if I could get 7000 for it maybe I could justify the extra bills to move up to a 10 m M8 for a few g's... maybe not worth it either...

going from an m1000 to an m8 would be a major dissapointment. stick with what you have, a practically new sled. 09 tail section, bdx diamond drive and run the wire for the electronic reverse after you get the 09 reflash. For under $1200 you would have an 09.

Don't forget the lighter DD $$$$. I would try and sell it for 7 and if it does great if not keep it. I sold my 07 last year for 6. good luck

I bought an 09 M1 162 SP from MMSports few weeks ago and i paid 10400.00 . I did not have to drive far to get it , so i dont mind if i paid a little bit more. I called around and very few dealers had new 09 162 SP M1's .

I just wanted to make sure i got a new one , just in case AC stops selling them. I doubt there will be any 2010 M1 hold overs laying around , all i found was 2010 M8's a few weeks ago. None of the dealers had M1's in stock . The bars are very cool , love my 09.

I have the reflash, but will need a 650 dollar diamond drive if I want to lose the weight. I thought you had to replace the oil pump too, because the 08 pump won't oil in reverse. I have been struggling with doing the 09 tail section. Can't decide if I should do the BDX, VE, or Cat. Money money I guess. On the fence about putting a bunch of mods into a sled that I won't get the money back out of in trade... but you are right, a few mods and I would be close...

I think its worth an extra $$$$.$$ to buy as local as possible....Imagine dropping a motor in Feb and having your local dealers look at you funny when you ask for warranty work by next weekend so you can ride...Or to look the other way at those mods on that motor!!

We have a Colorado dealer who was sitting on a few....He wasnt willing to lose money on em' yet as he may know something we dont know?

Thanks Dano....Now that gonna be stuck in my head and make me go try and find one while I still can too!!

The bdx lite drive is about 6.5 lbs. Lighter then the stock 09 drive if you add the rotor. I'd run the oil delete and intake to save you around 16 lbs on the front of the sled. Oil delete also saves you in oil consumption greatly too! Later on you can save even more adding an slp pipe set and power commander.
