Here is my breakdown on all the Diesel trucks I have had all purchased new, the Dodges were good long term low maintance trucks both the 12v and 24v 5.9, the ford 7.3 P Stroke sold to a buddy still runs great 300k + miles. 6.0 P Stroke good truck sensitive to fuel quality, did not like heavy mods, Head studs, blown turbos, injectors etc.. 05 GMC best mileage from a Diesel yet..07 GMC 3500 DRW tons of power pitiful mileage 15 period, full, empty, trailer didn' matter. Drove buddys 6.4 F350 for a month while he hauled his buggy to races with the GMC Dually. Liked the Ford, great power not as good a ride as the GMC, better fuel Mileage 17ish, twin turbo had some minor issues, not a bad truck, ended up trading the GMC for an 08 Dodge the EGR may have gotten plugged and DPF may have fallen off, (have to get around to fixing that someday) Not as smooth a ride as either GM or Ford, lots cheaper and running a constant 18 in town with some big tires. My conclusion is all newer Diesels with DPF set-ups loose a lot of mileage but they all seem to be better than gassers and there is nothing inherently wrong with any of them, each have quirks that you live with, Fords seem to be most expensive to seriously mod and most expensive to purchase at this time, dodge Frames still could use some extra steel, GM's ride well but are suffering the most in fuel consumption. That has been my take others may have differing experience.
