Thinking about heading towards the Truckee area riding and have some questions.

Thanks all!

I think we have settle on the fact that we cannot see all these area's in one trip so, we are going to see and ride the Truckee area this trip, and make plans for another down to the Sonora Pass area.
Looks like we are going to take the Motorhome and stay at the trail head.
Which trail head is the best to stay at and get to the bigger stuff, or is there plenty of that everywhere?

Thanks again!

Jed

Great Pictures! Looks like a pretty area.
We are heading to Truckee. You mentioned LTS, is there anything remotely similar to what is in those pictures there?
Also, what kind of riding elevations is it? Do you gain a lot of elevation from the parking lot to the riding area?
Just trying to get a feel so I know what kind of fuel I need to bring.
Thanks again!

LTS parking lot 6200' (approx)

Top of Lola-- 9100'.

Most riding 6500-8500.

When the snow falls, there is great riding within 5 miles of the parking lot. Lots of fun stuff that is "hidden in plain sight"-- a lot of people bomb right past looking for a particular destination.

Climbing Lola is good fun. Lots of different lines from pretty easy, to tight trees where you need to stay on the gas while looking for the next gap....

LTS is huge-- miles of groomed trails (yawn) but thousands of acres of possibilities. I've got 1100+ miles there this season alone and I still find new places every time I go out.

We need snow......

East side of Sonora is 11,500 feet. We went to Castle Peak today and it has the biggest hills around here. 9,000. We watched the Turbo Sleds go up Paradise Chutes. What a show. Castle Peak is the closest thing to Sonora around here. Yes we did leave from my house .LTS.

We will be riding two or three Turbo sleds, this is what I was hoping for, lol!
How far from the LTS parking lot to Castle peak?

If you go over Mt Lola, and drop off the back side into White Rock Lake. Climb out of WRL and over the top you are there. If you go straight there I would say 1 hour.

Thanks so much for all your input. We should be rolling in sometime friday late afternoon.
We are down to three of us now, so should be a good time and easy to get around.

Thanks again! I owe all of you a beer, er drink if you don't drink per-say!

Well, as per Track Mans last post in his snow report and a few pm's about snow conditions, we are pulling our trip to Cali.
I want to thank each and everyone of you who helped us try and get this trip together! We still plan on coming someday but, with the current conditions it sounds as if it's not worth the 9 hour drive to come right now.

I hope to meet up with you folks soon!
