thinking about buying a 1100turbo

Ive been riding m-series since 2005. Currently on a 2011m8. I like them.
Always wanted a turbo. Is 1100turbo the answer? I want a bullet proof motor.
And never plan to change brands. Dont mind working on things to make them better.

Got a good deal on a demo 14 162 le zero miles didn't get a chance to ride this year. Bullet proof motor.. $11499.00 out the door

Here's what you'll here............

A lot of belt trouble. I think the guys with trouble like to vent here. Most without issues have little to say. I have no problems, it's been a great ride. I have about 1,800 miles on the first belt. Very smooth suspension and lots of power. Mine is stock. I see no reason for any more power if it will make it louder. No other stock sled come close.

Update , At the end of '13-'14 winter I had over 3,000 miles on my first belt.

I have a 2009 M8 I rode stock, then installed a turbo on it and rode it for a couple years which is a great sled. Then this year I bought a 2014 1100T knowing I was going to install EVO upgrades for more horsepower. With that said, I would take an stock M8 with 160hp over a stock 1100T at 177hp. The 1100T with EVO upgrades can produce a lot more hp....then they are worth it.

Just my two pennies......

I guess you'd know but,

a stock 800 at ten thousand feet only has 130 hp and the 1,100 turbo still has the 177. Heck even at 1,500' a stock 800 feels weak compared to the turbo.

If you want a turbo, 4 stroke is the only way to go for a true pull and go sled. I had a 09 dragon 800 with a aerocharger 66, when it ran good it was great, but I spent alot of my day playing with that stupid fuel box. I now have a 12 M800 and a 12' M1100 turbo. The power is impressive, my dragon was 240HP, the 1100 is 177HP out of the box, mine has a lightweight silencer and it feels just as strong if not stronger than my dragon did. Smooth power all the way, and literally turn the key and ride.

That being said, knock on wood, but my M800 had 900 miles on the original belt, did the updates and threw a new belt on it just because and it now has 1500 miles and still no issues. My M1100 had 500 miles on the original belt and still looks great. There's a big differnece in the way the two feel, I can throw my 800 around good, but not so much the 1100, but I'm only 185Lbs. Going to see how light I can get that 1100 down to, but a guy can drop 50Lbs off of it between hood, seat, battery, silencer, reverse delete, ect. With that combo I think it will be kick ***, and reliable. Also 8" skis and a 38" front end will really help out.

Good luck to you, you won't be disappointed. There are good proclimb sleds out there, I have 2!

I bought a new 1100turbo this year and all I can say is wow. Great power.. 700 miles and no belt problems. Have had probems with workmanship. When sled had 1 mile on it brake hose Rubed on clutch and got a hole in it. Secound trip a loose coolant hose clamp ended trip. Then blew the boost hose off the throttle body on the side of a mountain. Take it from me that when that happens you dont have enough power to get down. Fixed sled at 9400 feet. With that all being said still the funis sled I ve been on.

Ive had stock to 300HP 1100T's they are impressive sleds, but not for everyone. Took a couple guys on demo rides yesterday on M8's and 1100T's, they asked me which one I would buy. Its a really hard question, they are both so good for different reasons. The power of the 1100T Keeps you smiling all day long, the power just keeps coming. The only real draw back is it is heavy and you are more tired by the end of the day if you are riding hard.
If you're around Salt Lake come take a demo ride.

Also you neee to consider the type of riding you're doing and body weight. The 1100T is tougher to manuever and not as agile as the 800 just because of the weight difference. As far as myself weighing in at a whopping 160#, the extra weight of the 1100 is quite noticable when I'm playing in the trees.

I love mine!!

I have 12 1100T and 13 800M LTD. I love both sleds, the 800 has a few mods(can, gears, Team secondary ) and it is awesome when I play in the trees and boondocking. 1100 has 300HP kit and 3" track and some weight delete options and it is bulletproof. I can run 240 and 260HP on pump fuel and then start mixing 118 race fuel to run the higher HP. At 300HP I have not wrecked a belt, but diligently change at 500 miles to avoid problems. I am 245lbs and find the 1100 to be easier to throw around than my previous M1000. I have put on the 10" skis and narrowed the a-arms and it has helped also. My son is 175lbs and he is played out after an afternoon of running the 1100 but can go all day on the 800 and feel great, so size and riding style mean everything and need to be considered.

M1000 VS M1100

I used to have an 08 M1000 then i went to a stock 2011 pro. My question is does the 1100 handle better or worse than an old M series 1000? \

The sled i am looking at buying is the EVDO 250hp kit

i think so

if you liked your 1000 you will love the 1100t as long as it is a EVOARCTIC CAT.you need almost one of every thing on they website over time.o ya weld up the coolant tank no one offers a updated one .this is my fourth year on the same sled o motor trouble and that's a good thing after owning a m/1000 mod.:face-icon-small-coo

I suggest before you buy, you try!!! Not everyone likes them. Some say so heavy, others say not bad.
I tried a 1100 and a 800. I was set on an 1100. I didn't find it heavy at all Power was great. BIG benefit, when your at 10000, that HP rocks over anything else.
In the end, went with the '14 HCR800. I honestly love the power.

If you can try one!!

I wish they didn't sound like a riding lawn mower.. They have a strange noise coming from the engine area...

My 2 cents...

I have a 2013 M1100T, and a 2013 M800. My previous sled was a modded M1000. Handling wise, the big 4 stroke handles better then the M1000, but surprisingly similar in some ways. Suspension setup is key to making these "feel" light (cause they aren't). The torque of the 4S is amazing, and with EVO goodies (I ran a 250 kit the 1st year) they are simply impressive. The 800 is lighter and easier to throw around, but it sits in the trailer 99% of the time, as the fun factor of a boosted 4S is off the charts. The 1100 NEEDS all the venting it can get, properly aligned clutches and motor, a stronger chain, and wider skis to be bulletproof in the backcountry. Mine's a keeper, don't see me selling it any time in the near future.
Disclaimer: I am a big guy - 6'2", 225 lbs, and in good physical condition (ie: I can pick the front of the sled up to my chest when fully fueled). If you are in poor condition or a lightweight - it may not be the sled for you.

definitely not hacking on them, i would love to have one.....once the belt/chaincase issues are figure out, my friend went through 13 belts and 3 chain cases the first season and a half, another friend has one and went through 4 belts in 4 rides, but has zero chain case issues. Friend #1 also had his pumped up to 225hp, but dropped it after 6 belts. He has since went to the belt drive system, got rid of the chain case and was good from there. but that was on his dime to fix a Cat issue. Friend #2 is all stock, with an MBRP can on it.
