Thermostats for increased engine temps

I don't have a temp guage on the bike but was using an infared gun on the cylinder head and radiators and was getting around 150 F with the one inline t-stat and when the air temps/snow temps were cooler. This past weekend we were in balls deep snow and temps around 30 F. I was breaking trail and working the bike pretty hard and after about 5 minutes it would start to lose power and continually worsen if I didn't stop. I'm just saying that for my bike, in those conditions, any t-stat is not wanted. Sure it would run cooler with a richer jetting scenario but then it wouldn't run cleanly and fuel mileage suffers. Just part of living with a carburated 2-stroke

So Mr Bob is going to possibly make a adapter for his housing that will accomodate a 160F/70C stat. Said it may take a couple weeks. Said he is going to talk to his machinist. Hopefully it works well !

FYI.....i have a T-stat off a 2008 KTM that I will sell for $30. It doesn't fit on my 2011 KTM....

PM me if you want it.

this is how i did my drz400 looked water system found had water neck looked inside nothing looked at all the different versions found the street version had a thermostat bought it (rockymountianatvmc.com) and fits like a glove hope this help get rid of the condensation in the engine. Maybe there are other bikes with similar options.
