Thermo mod

It shouldn't, axys already has a bypass tstat.

My Axys 163 3" cools better on trail than my '13 144 2" Switchback Assault. Much more stabile temps and warms up way faster at initial start from cold engine.

Saturday, was about 40 in the afternoon and running down the trail with mine axys (155 2.6) with the scratchers up I was running about 135-140, the pros I was with were 165-170 before throwing down there scratchers to run 135ish. Sled warms up to 100° in 2-3 minutes

One thing that amazed me about my 2016 pro rmk 155 2.6 axys compared to any other sled i've owned and as my first new sled is how unreal the cooling is on this thing haha. My previous sled ( 2004 600ho renegade x 2" track) would need the scratchers down even with a inch or two of slight snow on the trails or it would creep 150+ slowly and my best buddy and main riding buddy with a 2012 144 switchback assault 2" track runs his most of the days untill into the hills. Well first ride out on this thing a few weeks ago, we literally still had bare stumps, rocks and mostly just pure ice on the trails but I was feening to get my first little ride in on my first ever new sled and man oh man not once for that 4hr ride did i have to even drop the scratchers and haven't yet and at most it will hit 138-145 which honestly amazes me! Thing warms up in like 1-2 minutes to even with a half foot of snow on it and not being run in a full week. Very impressed so far cooling wise with this machine especially without a front cooler.

Here's my opinion... I feel like people knew Polaris put a "revamped" cooling system/tstat bypass in the new axys and therefore have in their heads, "It must be way better!" Yes, IMO it is an improvement over the old Pro, it warms up ~2 minutes faster, but starting the sled up after a stuck, the temps still spike and slowly creep down no different, and as far as running cooler on a trail, it's not all that much better. Would be awesome to see Polaris put front coolers in all their sleds across the board.

I can say one thing this is the first polaris i've ever owned or brand new sled coming from doo's and I only had a choice between this or the sks and there is absolutely no way I would buy a sled from polaris if they FORCED me to only get a sled that has a front cooler or else it would be the first thing deleted/bypassed asap. I just see no need for it. so far the two tanks of gas i've burnt on this sled has been on just ****ty bare trails since we didn't have the snow yet and I haven't had a single issue yet, think 142-144 is the highest she's gotten yet and have yet to use the scratchers once. Can't comment like others on pro's or older sleds as like i've said this is my first polaris ever and first mountain sled.

No heat soak and rpm loss?

127 degrees max under load climbing.

The cooling system is an improvement over the pros and totally fine for mountain riders. I wouldn't want any additional weight or complexity for extra cooling.
