Personally I hate the references to pro-climb - pro rmk. Who would have thought that cat would jump on the bandwagon and try to benefit off the PRO name. Maybe the could have come up with a more original name. Lets hear some.

True, but wasn't Sno Pro a race class way back in the 60s-70s? I'm pretty sure that is where AC took it from. So rather than point fingers about who came from where, I think it was just a bad marketing idea for AC to not continue some AC mountain name. Like, oh, mountain cat, M, etc (let's forget about powder specials). Polaris has been on the RMK deal for decades, and stuck with it. Ski-Doo on Summit. It works well. AC and Poo now really do have quite a name soup. When someone says 'Pro' (not aware that this was previously a shorthand for Sno Pro) it means two things. AC must have been smoking the good when it came up with this idea...oh, let's hurt Poo sales by smearing the names together....haha. Who knows. Considering these companies were forged by a fractured family relationship, it is amazing there isn't more back and forth.

Good comments. My take on it is that Cat saw how well the PRO was doing and tried to find a way to blurr the lines without actually delivering something that could really compete.

Arctic cat had the Sno"PRO" way before Polaris had a wet dream of the Pro ride chassis.

This is very true, but regardless, "Pro-Climb"???? They could have done better than that IMO. At least SnoPro and ProRMK are quite a bit different, well, sort of. Pro-Climb and Pro-RMK are almost identical. Last year if you said "I rode a Pro", everyone knew you were talking about a Polaris. If you said "SnoPro", it was a Cat. No problem. Wait 'til next year when SkiDoo comes out with a the "ProXP" (remember Polaris had the ProX?) or maybe they'll call it the "ProDoo"? Either way, everybody will be riding a Pro and there will be no more brand bashing....

If I owned one, I'd be telling people I rode a M800...not a Pro climb.

The arctic cat sno-pro chassis has been the race chassis for the last several years. They designed the new chassis off of the race chassis and turned it into a mountain chassis so that is where pro-climb comes from. It sounds better then Pro MOuntain. I agree it is kind of lame that they are the same but I blame Polaris. Cat already had a pro chassis. Them releasing a pro-ride chassis is dumb but who cares. Hopefully the pro-climb works half as well as the pro ride.

Not sure of who was first but I have had both a Mountain Cat (MC one of these) and a Rocky Mountain King (RMK 5 of these). Then a Powder Special (PS One of these)and a Snow King Special (SKS one of these) a 440 super jag (in my garage) and a DOO Super wide (best work sled built) and an assortment of touring's, sports, sport tourings, 550's, 580's 600's yada yada yada.

It just seems that when it comes to naming the engineers on all three sides are like the guys on the Big Bang Theory, they are as smart as hell but lack imagination.

IF I was king for a day I would name a new POO Pro the "Condor of Death", "Mountain DOO Killer" or "Skip"

I never understod why they were not consistent with the M series either

MY preference.

M600, M700, M800, M1000, M1100

or
M6, M7, M8, M10, M11

but went with

M6 ,M7 M8, M1000, M1100

I liked it better when they had there own cool names, but it was too confusing for either the customer or marketing not sure who.

Perhaps the all new Thundercat M1100 Turbo

Waiting for my '12 ProRMK 800.... People ask what Im getting, I say 800 RMK. Difference yes, do I care what it's called....No. I'm lazy, it's easier to leave out Pro... :). Just damn glad I no longer will have to answer... "800 Dragon".

Well Duh! (just kidding) If they called the M1000, the M10, then that would flat out be copying someone else, namely FAST. They wouldn't dare copy anyone, would they?

Yeh, I don't think Poo should have used "PRO" But they did. Kind of seems like corporate wars to me. AC uses Proclimb for the mountain sleds and Procross for the performance and crossover sleds. But there is still only one Pro. If you say Pro, I would think you were talking about a Polaris.

Yes, the Thundercat would have been a cool name for the 1100t, too bad they used it in their atv's. The M8 banner was a recognizable name that we all knew. How about the M8climax, or whatever. Im just not that creative, and apparently neither is cat.

sounds orgasmic :face-icon-small-hap

I don't care who used PRO first, Cat using it on thier mountain sled one year after Polaris came out with the Pro ride is GAY!!!

That's the bottom line. Just bad to mix your new product up with your primary competition. The fact that this is like the 20th thread on this topic is proof of that. Some other name would have been cool. Maybe the "stealth" chassis, or SuRiLaS chassis (SUper RIdiculously LArge Spindles). So now when we say "Pro" we have to specify climb or ride.

Yup.....I actually can't believe such a large corp. would do something so homo.

And no one EVER refered to an M-sled SnoPro as a "Pro" for short....EVER....so that arguement is equally flaming.
