The Viper mountain has been released

Do they not know orange and blue are the heaviest colors to dress a pig up in?
Even Yamahards want something lighter

I think Yamaha should publish the dry weight of these sleds. Everyone knows that a 4 stroke will weight more not putting the numbers out only make them look like they are hiding them. My guess is they are in the 550lb area.

thats what a 162 weighs with a gallon of fuel 550lbs 2014 viper 162 inch track -8lbs for strap.

new mtx viper is supposed to be lighter so should come in at 510-520 dry still heavy but a improvment.

 ^ That's awesome!

For one....I am super pumped that Yamaha and Cat were able to join forces to combine Cat's heavy, lackluster chassis....with Yamaha's heavy, lackluster powerplant.

I guess this is a great option for people who wanted an 1100T (?) that doesn't digest itself.

I remember the non turbo 1100 cats flying off my local dealers floor a couple years ago. Wait a minute, they are still sitting there... Yamaha needs to come out with some new engine tech asap. If Yammi came out with something more powerful from the factory, and as light as the Cat 800, then I'd be all over one.

the Yamaha Nytro motor boosted at 270HP

makes for a bulletproof powerhouse, great power and i would imagine will last longer than a EVO 275HP 1100T.
that's the minimum amount of HP. I would want when riding either of those 2 Heavy Pigs.

Sledders are a strange bunch sometimes. For years the story with Yamaha was "their chassis sucks...motor is underpowered...we want a turbo option from the factory...too expensive...too heavy...blah blah blah" While it may not be the end all, this sled certainly seems like a step in the right direction with the turbo option, yet the complaints and criticisms are louder than ever.

Meanwhile Polaris puts out an 800 that can barely keep together for 1000 miles and people are lined up around the block to get one because OMG DAT CHASSIS.

I will agree with that. If you're looking for bigger power and ok with spending $$$$ to turbo and mod, it would probably the most dependable optionto have a big HP monster.

I like Yamaha reliability but up here in Canada Viper is 15k plus 2k and another 1k for turbo install so 18k and tax.I paid 13k for my 14 163le pro thats 5 k less and a 100lbs lighter.I can use the 5 k for extended warranty or a new engine and still be riding the lightest best handling mountain sled out there.I could always strap 100lbs to my pro and pretend i'm on the Yamaha /cat.If it was maybe 40lbs heavier and only 2 k more I might consider but its still too far apart.
