The old assault vs the new

Which new one (Sb or rmk) is the most comparable to the old assault?
One of the main reason i want an assault: JUMP.
Is the suspension of the switchback enough stiff to do them?

My friend had a 600RR and the suspension was PERFECT.

I cant choose... SB with 2inch track or Rmk.
I dont go in big mountain, i go in heavy snow, i go in trail...
Is the assault rmk capable of 70mph?
Is the swaybar of the switchback easily removable?

If your mostly jumping you need to go with a modified IQ race. I know alot of people in idaho that use the iq race chassis with a long track and either a 700 or 800 motor piped. They seem to rip pretty good in the powder, and are untouchable as far as jumping. Also they are tough as hell. I have seen people bail of and slam trees and little damage happens. So if you are looking for a jumper that can also hit the back country then you need to modify an ig race.

I dont do BIG jumps, not enough to get a race sled.
And when i do them, i land in heavy snow
I like to go in heavy powder.
But like i said there is no mountain in my area, i dont climb

so is this a choice between Switchback Assault and RMK Assault? You don't have hills but you want to float so you can ride in powder. You don't jump big enough to need a race sled but want a sled with a capable suspension. I would vote for the Switchback Assault. Its a little shorter than the RMK and has the torsion suspension which is proven, it still comes with Walker Needles, has rail bracing (and shorter rails so less apt to bend), and has tunnel supports on it already. It would probably suit your needs just fine. You can take the sway bar out if you want but will probably want to revalve your front shocks accordingly. just IMOs.

oh and keep in mind the switchback's rear suspension is uncoupled...

My IQR was hard to turn for my liking. I wanted a jumper that could go up the steep and deep like my D8 and jump like the IQR when I found the mecca up top. Riding the Pro I knew it was the perfect balance between the two for me. I would assume the new Assault would be even better for jumping. My .02.

Unless you need to put the highmark on the hill go with the SB. It will move faster and still has a 144" track. Remember back in the early 2000's when a 144" was a huge improvement over the 136"? Hehehehe.

I know the 2009/10 Assault was slowed down on the top end from it's heavy track, so I'm sure the 155" track will be worse. Pick your priorities and there will be a sled for them.

Uncoupled means it allows more weight transfer because the rear torque arm can move farther before the front torque arm is forced to respond... if that makes any sense.

I think the IQr is coupled and pretty sure most trail sleds are coupled. It helps keep the front end down and forces the torque arms in the rear suspension to work together.

When it is uncoupled there will be more weight transfer allowing for more traction but it will lift the front end.

Not sure if it'll be that big of a deal for you though...

My 900 switchback 144 hit 119mph but i cant tell u how fast the sb assault will go for sure but i would say it should do around 110mph on hardpack with the cobra track on it.
