October 1st we can let the arrows fly.....
The last couple of years I've been rifle hunting. I love bow hunting way more but the rules and fire danger the last couple of years in Oregon have Fawked me from doing so :face-icon-small-dis

This is why my user name is Elkaholic4life. My first Elk, also my first year bow hunting. Pope and Young 6x6 Roosevelt Elk. I took it at 12 yards after a 5 minuet wait for it to turn for a good shot. That was taken in 2003. I've been looking for something bigger ever since. On an average, I get 2 elk every 3 years. WAY better than most people in Oregon

haha you can drive up and shoot em here if you so desire haha

Only thing rifles can kill here is predators... but they did put a law onto affect this year on straightwall carriages for rifles, before had to be a handgun. So this year the 45/70 will hopefully make its first deer kill. But compared to modern sabot slugs and even the new muzzleloaders, not gaining any yardage out of the rifle option.

Pisses me off that the only thing we can use on deer is inaccurate guns and ammo, other than todays good muzzle loaders. That's probably why I quit deer hunting. The benefit of not having a deer tag is I can always have my rifle ready to snipe a coyote.
