Stay clear of Skookum Meadow out of Woodland for a while

The consensus from the Pennsylvania gathering was for the 2011 gathering to be someplace in the state of Washington.
Directions

From Portland, take I-5 North 30 miles to Woodland, Washington, Take exit 21, and go east on Road 503 which becomes Forest Service Road 90. Continue on FS90 (when it come to the intersection of hwy 25 and rd.90 stay to the right and continue on 90). Turn right right on Curly Creek Rd. Drive 5 miles. (Curly Creek may become Forest Service Road 51). Turn left on Wind River Road and drive 2.5 miles. Turn left at Forest Service Road 32 and drive 1/4 mile to Road 3211 and parking. Here's a google map. If you're coming from points east - Take I-84 to Hood River Oregon. Go north on the Hood River Bridge (Hwy 20) to Hwy 14 in the state of Washington. Go west on Hwy 14 to Carson, Washington. Take Wind River Road north 26 miles to Lone Butte Snow Park. Turn left on Forest Service Road 32. Drive 1/4 mile to Road 3211 and parking. Entrances to this area from the east and the north are not passable at this time because they are blocked by snow. SNOW SNOW SNOW. Do not go this way and get stuck in the snow.
We'll be at Skookum Meadow which is at 3,200 fee

For sure the upper tear of society, LOL . WOW as stated from the information ranger from the clip, A HUGE scar on the land. How many of our rideing areas need to be rehabed, after we use them in the winter?
I'm glad they area useing the forest, even though most of them, more than likely don't pay taxes. Can you say hipacrits! I would be willing to bet this place will look like hell when there done! I could be wrong. It has happened before.

IT's a farce. They came to the Big Hole by Wisdom/Jackson a few years ago.

All the freeloaders and losers run away to join this "family" and spend a week getting wasted.

They chose a VERY envronmentally sensitive area that has only about 25 frost-free days in the whole year.

I have nothing good to say about them.

oh god some of you people are so close minded and so frickin judgemental. They actually have a crew that goes in after the gathering and reseeds the trails that were made with the native flowers plant etc. And actually they make small little towns around them ALOT of money. Its not just hippies there is doctors, lawyers, park ranger, cops, you name it they are all there and yes ive been to 5 of them and they are a frickin blast good ole fashion camping except with about 15,000 to 50,000 people maybe you should go check it out instead of being a hipacrit

Ok cool. Just curious....have you been back to the spot a year or two later? I went through there two years later. A lot of scars were visible. The walking trails and paths. The latrines they buried hadn't grown grass for two years. I don't care WHO is there...they leave scars.

Lots of parents found their underage kids there who disappeared. We had a bunch of kids from around here disappear for few days. Turns out they found them spread around the camp face down in tents, drunk, stoned, fried on acid or tweeked out on whatever they could find. Why are the "doctors, lawyers, parker rangers, cops, you name it" that you say are there letting THAT happen?

Its not what everyone HEARS about its actually kid friendly they have a kids camp were parents and their kids can stay. I bet some ones cousins uncles sisters younger brother was the one found face down in the tent right? And actually there is no drinking allowed except for the a camp(alchol camp) which is outside the main gathering, but yes there is drugs there. But its not a bunch of hippies going around slipping everyone lsd its actually pretty well hid for the simple fact of the few free loaders the children and there is uniformed police officers there. And i had a friend go back to oregon to the okocho national forest a few years back maybe more like 6 and said he could tell that no one has ever been there that gathering was in 1998 and i think there was around 30,000 people. people like me would never let any kid get into any trouble at one of these and I know thousands of other people would not let this happen to kids either. They actually have doctors and nurses on site at stations just in case anything bad happens. the ones i have been to have been awesome relaxing and one was in montana to and you dont hear any negative about that do ya. People just need to do more research before judging, how do you feel when people are mad because you are tearing up the land killing the trees and polluting the air with snowmobiles. Well I know your not and so do other people but it sucks when people judje before they get the facts and listen to the propaganda BS. Sorry I just love both havent been to a gathering in 8 years but will definetly go again but I sled every year

Oh ya i forgot to say the deal is with these gatherings is free access to the forrest its our land no one should be able to say where we gather and for what reason what are you fighting for when it comes to snowmobiling. and i also forgot to say ya im sure there is under age kids that go there to party but i think i would rather let my kid go to the gathering than let them free in missoula unattended. NO offense to missoula

I remember hearing about this when I was in high school(10 years ago). It was all about getting high and partying. Can't imagine it has changed much. I have never been nor do I want to, I have spoken with people that have. Doesn't seem like a family friendly event, or at least not a event I would want my children around.

I can guarantee you that I won't be attending any thing like that ever. Close minded or not. I disagree with everything those people stand for!!! I will consider it a complete joke, for what they stand for and the way they try to come across. I sure don't see any doctors or other people like that in any of the video I see of there partys, and gatherings. But maybe there in there some where. I hope I will never need any medical atteintion from those doctors, help form those cops, so on and on!!! I will be closed minded some more, if you think these people are all right, then I would say you have taken one to many hits off of the pipe my friend. 99.9% of those people are the ones that are trying to keep us out of our public lands! I dont want to say I totally stand for what they are about but there is more to it than what you see or hear its one of those deals kind of like people that dont snowmobile they hear the negatives and so be it. Ya im not sure if its free anymore or what goes on with them last time i went was 2002. we went to minnesota for a wedding and in michigan they were having one so we swung by brought our 4 year old with us and he had no negative exposure and i made sure of that people there are pretty curtious of kids and what they are exposed to. Anymore who knows

I would like to see some pics if any one has any of just after the gathering and 2-3 years after. Ive always been curious of what the land looks like, if the crew said they were doing what they are doing. Ive just heard from friends that everything is good never seen personally. I wont have internet for a while since i am moving but i hope too see some pics. It made me think when you guys were talking about the land being torn up and all that $hit is supposed to be taken care of im wondering if they are full of BS. Thanks
