My machine is in 100 pcs and figgered it would be a swell time to slip on a newsed pan as I have about a 6" long slit behind the shock tower where the can git's to it.

But most that I find off of a bigger sled seem to have at least some slit in them. There is one off of a 500 on EBAY right now that doesn't look to have this tho.

I have been watching Swap Meet (ran search) and Ebay, and everyone seems to think these are gold. By the time you ship it at all - It's gunna take a $100 bill to git something here, and like I said - it will likely have some amount of the same problem, so what's the point?

So I am beginin' to think about just riviting in a pc of alum plate there. Quick and cheap and prolly be stronger than new, and be somewhat of a heat shield as well. This is prolly what I will doo.

However - I have not heard any mention of this issue on the forums, and it appears to be very previlent. I don't know that it is a "problem" at all really, but as mine is getting kinda big I think it was actually trying to build up snow there on some of the last rides. What have you guys done about this?

.

I "ghosted" mine downhill into a tree about 3 years ago and split the pan. I use an electric soldering gun to melt it back together. Still holding up, but I haven't hit anything yet.

He!! yeah, rivet on a piece of old license plate or even the whole plate itself. That's what I used when I had to relocate the exhaust dump hole in the belly pan of my boys Racer-X. worked great, run a bead of hi-temp silicone around the can exit pipe.
