The Blues 2015-2016

Is this what online dating feels like?

I am looking for people to ride with this Saturday 1/30/16.
I live in Clarkston, WA but haven't ridden the Blues before, judging from the pics looks like I should be. I am willing to drive a couple hours to meet up and ride around the Dayton area also.

I ride a kx450f with a Timbersled ST kit and am willing to ride with anyone that can show me the area. I would prefer to stay off the groomers but really I am down for whatever. I carry a shovel, beacon, and probe with me and I have a radio also. PM me if your interested.

I guess I can let you guys pay me if I keep up, that seemed to get a lot of attention! I will even make posts making fun of you later if that helps! Just kidding but seriously I really need some riding buds close to home.

The Pomeroy Bucket Run is Sunday January 24 leaving the Rose Spring SnoPark from 9-11 and travel to their Mt. Misery shelter for food and Linda's famous chili.

Hope to see some of you there. They have snow so time to go track it up.

Did you happen to play a hand or two? If so, how did you do? I am from Pomeroy but live in Spokane. We made the trip down friday night to ride Saturday and Sunday.

Hi Sketchy Red, I'm not around this weekend but there are a few Timbersled bikes in Dayton that ride most weekends. I did see a couple at Pomeroy last weekend.

Baden we did have several people go on the bucket run and enjoyed the nice weather on Sunday and fresh snow versus what was coming down on Saturday. We mainly all got a nice meal at the Misery shelter. CB.8 had a daughter that won a prize.

After the awards presentation we hooked up with CB.8 and his daughter as well as rmk all the way to make tracks where tracks hadn't been made. One in the group made a new trail off a road and dove off the hill after him and I went in a tree well that I couldn't touch the ground and had to get my shovel out of my pack and dig my way to get back up the hill to my sled.

We had a great time. It has been a few years since I have ridden there due to low snow conditions.

Thanks to the Mt. Misery Snowdrifters for a great event and great hospitality. It was a lot of fun.

Thanks for the heads up, I thought I was seeing more snowbikes around the area. I am normally available to ride every weekend but I have to work this sunday through next saturday:face-icon-small-sad. Was really hoping to get a ride in to carry me through a long work week. If anyone wants to ride pm me!

Ride Report 1/30/16

Rode out of Cloverland and the road is good to the snow park. Park is NOT plowed and is a bitch:yuck: Thanks to the folks in the big truck for pulling us out!!

Road is plowed to about a mile past the Potlatch road but the road is snow covered. Trails are not groomed... snowed on and off all day... Burger were great at the cabin... FS was in the park writing tickets for unlicensed sleds and tow vehicles w/o permit in the park

Ride Report 1/31/16

Rode out of the Dayton side... parking lot was plowed... trails were not groomed but it was an awesome day:face-icon-small-hap

Powder snow, my XP is coming around and nearly could keep up with the Cat with the three inch snow thrower!!! Thanks CB8 for the rescue when I got "detained" in the stupid steep and deep:face-icon-small-blu

Thanks NicBro, Zac, CB8, and Bruce (with that stupid sick turbo-pro) for a GREAT ride today...

A sled detained... from this view... it could be a Cat.... but, sadly it was my Doo

although I got stuck on a steep hill and avalanches are rare in the Blues (although I rode one several years back, not a fun experience) I have to say to my riding mates thank you for helping me stay safe. They all stayed in a safe zone and CB8 did not ride his sled to me rather parked in a safe area and walked down to me (and then climb backed out)... not easy!

Ride Report 2/7/16

Was there a football game today?? We missed most of it as it was a super day in the Blues... Janet, CB8, Junior, Robbie, Chris and others... Got to ride the new Ski Doos.. holy crap they is as much a difference from going from the MXZX chassis to the REV... there is that much difference going from the XP to the new XM. The 174 is just stupid... it can probably go uphill backwards better than my 163 does forward.:bowl:

Blue skies, snow was okay, 5.5 feet at the marker. go almost anywhere snow (okay I got detained in the hole known as the "Water fall") I flipped my sled over backwards on my first attempt out; second attempt of a side hill and stuck... my 60 year old body by then (it was late in the day) was done. THANKS Robbie for side hilling my sled 100 feet to a point I could get my dress untangled from the track and ride it the rest of the way out. :face-icon-small-blu

WARNING!!!!!!!! Riding out of Cloverland. The road to the park is plowed and snow is quickly melting off the road. The hill to the park is still slick. The park is sort of plowed (by a cat, so still rough). The logging company has plowed 3-4 miles South and the snow is quickly melting off the road. There is room along the road for a sled. It is best to go in on the Potlatch Road. The trails ARE GROOMED!!!

DANGER!!! Where the loggers end the plowed road is a not too friendly berm and it is easy to get around but if you were going Mach 1 or it was dark... it would be like driving into a brick wall! Again easy to drive around but if you were going too fast or did not see it... could get ugly...

PS. Private message to CB8. Nice save on keeping your new sled from crashing into the trees in the bottom of the ravine by throwing your helmet under the sled to get it stopped... a safety consideration for next time would be to TAKE YOUR HEAD OUT of the helmet first!!

Checking the tension on the track is easier when you put the sled in this position (like I am demonstrating here)... this maneuver is for experts only (thanks Robbie and Chris for the rescue)

When Cats try to go where Doos go (the tracks above are Doo tracks!)

Yea it WAS one of those great days of snowmobiling and friends

Great day of riding today.
Here comes the excuses. Learned it from my Doo elders.
The first day of riding mashed potato snow on the new M and it kicked my butt. I still am over correcting too much. After stopping the sled with my head I was a little hesitant the rest of the day.
The 174 Doo goes crazy stupid places.

Took the family to Dayton for a ride today. It was the maiden voyage for the Phazer, needless to say Cora approves. The snow was better then expected. 10 inches of heavy soft snow on top of a soild base. The trails were freshly groomed. The burgers were great. Cora poses like she is riding a skidoo.

I'm glad your family was having a great time. It looked like all were having a great time when I saw you at the shelter. Sounds like you will need to get your daughter a Skidoo then for next time. The snow was better than I thought it was going to be also.

The Blue Mt. SnoMo Club Bucket Run is next Saturday Jan. 27 9-11am leaving the SnoPark to Godman if you want to come again next weekend and enjoy a burger again. I know Pomeroy is having their vintage run the same day so it will take out a few people.

I was just running around doing a little scouting. Did get up on Chase Mt. and took a couple pictures looking back at Bluewood.

March 18th

Last Friday I decided to play hookie from work and go check out the new snow. The best way to not get caught when playing hookie is to bring your boss (which I did). So myself, Ron, Bill, Paul and his son Steven all met up at the Bluewood parking lot at about 9:15am. It was a picture perfect day. The snow was soft and forgiving, we will call it Spring Powder. We headed out to Chase Mt. and then to Griffth. On the way back from Griffth low and behold we ran into Jacey (another guy from work) and his son Tyler playing hookie too. So for those that are mathematically challenged that is seven in the group now. We tore the whole mountain up all the way to teepee and back. By the time we left the parking lot it was almost 6pm. I have logged 700+ miles on the 16 cat and couldn't be happier with the purchase. This might be the last report of the year from CB.8:faint:
PS thanks to Ron for the photos.
