The big question, CE or Peak?

Gotta make the order this week. How many of you will be the ginny pig for the Peak vs going for the trusty rusty CE 2.5? I'm torn on what to do. Will be riding out of Nelson this winter in epic pow on a 2011 Assault. Love the idea of the Peak but don't want it to be a dud and be a waste compared to the CE.

Just don't know what to do :face-icon-small-con

In deep fresh pow... I'd say try out the Peaks track... This track has the most development of any track that Camoplast has made to date...They have taken the features of thier entire Mountain track development and integrated them into one package.

Sweet track IMO... this is what I'll be running this season... What Sled will you have it under?

living in nelson isnt all deep pow days all day long as much you might think.....lots of spring conditions, majority of the riding we do is in spring/setup conditions....i run a power claw and its super nice till about mid april, then i want a CE.....my vote is the CE just from knowing what we deal with out here!!!!!!

I was in the same situation and just said the hell with it and ordered the 154" Peak for my '09 700 RMK. Was it a gamble ordering a newly realeased track, yes, but hey why not give it a try. I've heard the CE had a tendancy to trench, but a poorly set-up skid/suspension would cause that.

Lol I said in my post I will be riding in Nelson on a 2011 Assault.

And Im just worried the Peak lugs look too thick yet soft, that they could trench in powder yet fold in the hard spring stuff? But hey, if that much development has gone into it then it better be worth it

The inner most lugs are flexible for powder, but the outer lugs are stiffer to aide in riding in spring snow. Kind of the best of both worlds. The Peak is typically a few pounds heavier than the equivalantly sized CE track. I'll post up the info I got from Camoplast:

I'm going with the Peaks this season!! also planning on doing a little modification so that I can fit smaller drivers in there and more room for snow to clear, might help those of you concerned about the heavier snow (we get it in Washington pretty bad!!)

I think this track is gonna be the best of all worlds for a mtn track, stoked to try it!!

You near Nelson? You coming to the meteor mine hill climbs?

And I think I might do the gamble and hope it works!

can see the kokanee glacier from my desk, and it had freshies on it last night!!!!! been living in the koots my whole life, grew up in kaslo so i got TONS of honey holes!!!!!
not sure if im gonna do meteor hill climbs this year.....its the best time to ride every where else cause theres no body there!!!!!
been reading up on that peak and if it performs how they say it will i think its your best bet for always having a competative track. think the power claw will do better in the super dry fluff (hurry up feb!!!!!) but the peak should dominate the rest of the year. and hopefuly those outside paddles will help in braking come spring time!!!!!

Nice article in the Oct SnoWest issue about the Yamaha 2012 "Ascent" track - which is basically the Peak track just with shorter 2 1/4" lugs if I remember correctly.

I wonder if they said the same thing when they released the Challenger Lite.

I should add that I run the CE
