thats it.. im getting a concealed weapons permit...

been numerous burglaries around here lately (in broad daylight).. woman was murdered in her home yesterday less than a mile from here (as the crow flies). i dont live in a bad neighborhood, predominantly working class folks.. the lady that was murdered was ina neighborhood where the houses are upwards of 500k on the water..

i have 2 guns at home, an xd 9mm that holds 17 or 19, cant remember and a semi auto smith and wesson 12 guage..

i carry cash quite a bit for what i do for a living, i think i should also carry a gun with me just incase.. im gonna take the concealed class but, got to looking at a concealed weapons website, jeezus crist theres alot of scenarios and do and donts behind the concealed weapons law..

There is a huge responsibility in carrying a concealed weapon. It's not something you're going to just brandish on a regular basis because you can. Basically, it's a last ditch resort to save your life or the life of those around you. In reality, unless you have the upper hand, you probably won't be pulling it anyway (someone from behind you sticks a gun in your back and demands money...you ain't gonna get the drop on him...give him the money). If you do ever have to pull a concealed weapon, you better plan on pulling the trigger, and you dam well better be in the right in doing that. Shoot a failure drill and then assess the situation.

Plan on spending lots and lots of money in court if you ever pull the trigger on another human...even if you were in the right.

A few years back there was a story on glocktalk about a guy using his concealed pistol when him and his date were confronted by two thugs, from behind, on a dark street. He drew and turned as they came up behind them at a rapid pace...as he did, the first thug started to draw a pistol from his belt, so he shot a failure drill on him. As he went down thug number two tried to catch the pistol and employ it...failure drill #2 stopped him. Thug #3 in the van took off but was found by police. Two dead thugs (black 18 year olds) + 1 black mayor out for revenge = $100k in legal fees for the guy, plus death threats and drive-by shootings at his house.

Think before you pull that pistol out.

Oh, and be good with that pistol too...I'm giving up my XD45 for a Beretta 92 because I'm damn good with the Beretta and have more confidence with it than I do with the 45. Ya, it might take 2 shots to stop someone, but I know that I can get those two shots on target.

All very good points ^^^^^ One other is if you do have to use it shoot to kill..... there is less arguing about the details that way....... Take some training if you are not used to carrying.....

Good luck!

If everyone concealed carried and knew when and how to use their pistol... there would a lot less criminals out and about taking advantage of folks... IMO...

It's just plain dumb to have only criminals and those who are supposed to protect us carry guns...

I have a CCW permit and carry my pistol just about where ever I go... second nature, kinda like putting on your socks and shoes in the morning...

good choice. just remember lots of practice build a muscle memory and never bring it into play until its time to use not to scare them away. being aware of your surroundings and who is in them will help a lot. most concealed carry holsters don't give you a lot of speed so practice with them is essential

This is what they told me when I got my permit also !!!!
It can only be last resort and then average 100K court fees. :mad:

do it before you can't!
this is what i did 14 year ago and keep it up, you can always chose not to carry but can not go the other way. who cares about 100k in legal when your still breathing air and do shoot to kill. one story with no defense from the other side.

If more people had a CCW our country would be a better place. A few years ago here in Vegas some P O S walked in to an Albertsons with a semi-auto 30-06 .

He started picking off random people , and there was another in Utah some time ago. Thanksgiving Pointe if memory serves . Better to be judged by 12 , rather than carried by 4.:beer;

concealed holder here, admitted gun nut and holder of a few classes. I can offer this, if you are interested in home defense.... a 12ga pump gun is the answer. there is not a person aive who does not know th sound of the gun being stroked. nobody in their riht mind would walk into that.

I agree , there is a pump and a semi auto 12 GA in my bathroom. Both loaded side by side , 6 feet from where i sleep.:beer;

Good choice for sure. I really wish you could carry here, I would have one in a second. To much bad **** happening! Local cops put up a site with all the crimes for the city. There is an average of 1 every 2 days, in MAYBE 500 houses+unreported ones. That's from house break ins, vehicles stolen, the really scary part is how many assults! My house has been hit way to many times!

If you ever have to use it, money for lawyer fees are a lot better then you or a loved one not having another chance.

In the new world order ..the last thing that you want to do is get a permit.....

so why ?? so they them know who what and where you are ??

doesn't sound like a very logical place to start now does it .....probably reason number 666 why I don't devuldge this type of information ....ever

a few reasons why I have the conceal weapons permit is:

1.) dont have to wait for background check on purchase of a handgun.
2.) dont have to worry about being in violation of conceal carry laws when bringing it to and from the range and packing it along on camping/hiking trips.
3.) i like the fact that you have to take at least a basic level introductory course on the operations and use of the firearm.

If you can find an absolute top notch instructor I would suggust taking more than the intro course. For many reasons, I am impressed with a guy here in the Bitterroot Valley named Mark Kowak. He teaches regular courses at both the intro level and beyond.

This country is truly sad, if a man can not defend himself without bankrupting himself. What happens if you just walk into court and defend yourself, "JUSTICE" doubt it.
