Thanksgiving Snow coming but to where?

Morning UpDate AO

Post back even if there is enough to road ride this weekend.

CHAINS OR SNOW TIRES ARE REQUIRED FROM FOREST TRAIL RD TO THE MAMMOTH MOUNTAIN INN (MONO CO) @ 709 hrs.

Nothing on 395

Only calling for up 5 inches @ 9000 ft.

If the storm stayed south ... maybe Ponderosa got some good snow? Anybody know Ponderosa or a webcam?

I can't find the camera for Sherman Pass behind Kernville to see the conditions.

Hey Bluejay ... what can you see?

Radar for south tip of Sierras is not working right now.

Up Date # 2 for AO

[IN THE CENTRAL CALIFORNIA AREA] US 395
CHAINS OR SNOW TIRES ARE REQUIRED FROM 25 MI NORTH OF BISHOP TO 1 MI
NORTH OF THE JCT OF SR 203 (MONO CO)

thanks for the tips brownie...i'm not sure i get the anit-inflamatory meds then jump in a hot tub thing...seems counter productive but if it worked...that's what counts. i've got the hot tub in good shape, i jump in tonight.

as for rain...WOW! we got flat POUNDED here in fresno last night...all night. i've got a call in to see what the SL was. base on NWS soundings, there has to be at least 2 feet above 7500 after this one. i'll post as i find out more.

Dissapointing last night in Bass Lake. 3 tenths of an inch since midnight and currently 47 degrees at 3,400' elevation. Rain has tapered off since about 8 this morn with only a 20% chance of rain tonight. Doesn't look too promising for snow totals in the central Sierra's.

Doesn't look like anything happened. Mammoth only received an inch. As Silvertip mentioned, only calling for maybe 3-5", thru Turkey Day.

Yea, this is the best link to Sherman cameras. It hasn't updated as of yet, still showing Tuesday. Tobias shows some snow, and Alta Sierra has a dusting.
Poderosa had a temp of 35 and nothing showing for snowpack.

Allen......if you guys have rideable snow for this weekend let us know.

Talk to my buddy who went up there yesterday.. When I asked him how it was he responded with "not good" .. looks like we are waiting for the next storm....more time to fix the 01 I guess.

FORECAST IS CALLING FOR "RIDGE CITY" THROUGH EARLY DECEMBER.....TEMP INVERSIONS DEVELOPING THIS WEEKEND INTO EARLY NEXT WEEK....HIGHS FOR MAMMOTH WELL INTO THE 50S SATURDAY THROUGH MONDAY THEN POSSIBLY SOME COOLING BY MID WEEK AT THE UPPER RIDGE WEAKENS......"STRONG" POSITIVE PHASE PNA PATTERN TO CONTINUE THROUGH FIRST WEEK OF DECEMBER, THEN BEGINS TO WEAKEN THERE AFTER.

SO BEST GUESS....NEXT STORM CYCLE BEGINNING BETWEEN THE 10TH AND 15TH OF DECEMBER AS RETROGRESSION TAKES PLACE. (WILL FINE TUNE OVER THE NEXT WEEK) LOOKING AT 300HR GFS ENSEMBLE INITIALIZED TODAY....AS HIGH AS 6 OUT OF 12 MEMBERS AGREE ON A DEEPENING WEST COAST TROF. CPC HAS +PNA FORECASTS.....SHOWING WEAKENING OF +PNA PATTERN LATER THE FIRST WEEK OF DEC.

billygoat and wolverine rode for the second weekend in a row above bass lake. i just found out today (they were keeping it on the DL because of how sweet the road ride was!) about 9 inches of fresh on a 8 inch base at quartz mountain. that side is always deeper fast and a really fun ride. word has it they've been doing some double-secret ride-tuning the last two weekends with amazing results...hmmmm. we'll see.
