This weekend proved there are still "honest" people in this world. I rode out of Muddy Creek and lost my camera on the trail as we headed out. I didn't realize it was gone until we stopped for lunch and noticed the bag was open. Sick to the bone!!! We decided to head straight back to the lot, look for it on the bumpiest part of the trail (out of the lot). We started asking the folks around the lot if anyone had seen a camera that had fallen out of a bag onto the trail. I was directed to a trailer with Minnesota tags. The gentleman had found my camera on the trail and had placed it safely in his trailer with signs posted on the outhouse and the outside of trailers. I was so happy to find this man that all I could do was hug him. I didn't even ask his name. What a shame, I would like to personally thank him for his great honesty and keeping my camera safe until I could find him. Great gang from Minnesota, hope you enjoyed your trip to Colorado. I know I am sure glad you were here!!!! Wife of 2mileshigh

Karma is a good thing.
I found a really nice/expensive camera at the rest area this fall coming back from the hospital for my wife. After going through the photos I recognized some company trucks.Called the company and they were able to send out an email to their employees to find the person who lost it.He didn't even know it was gone.

That there is Minnesota nice. When were you up there? I know a group that was up there a few weeks back from my hometown of Bemidji...

We were up this past weekend - January 30-31. I am still in disbelief what a wonderful guy that kept my camera safe and returned it to me. You are right about the karma. It does come back around. I do wish that I would have gotten their names so I could thank them more. It is so good to know there are still those kind of people in this world -refreshing!

camera

I found that camera in the middle of the trail coming out of the muddy creek lot,and put it to the side of the trail for the owner to see and pick up.I knew they had to have just left,so I thought just leave it there and they will see it,I was going to bring it back to the lot and and ask around but like I said I knew they had to have just left. Also found your goggles and water bottles and put them just to the side of the trail also, put everything in plain view so no one would hit them, and so the owner could see them.I kinda figured your bag came open and your items fell out, sorry I did not bring them back to the lot,I figured you would be back fairly quickly looking for them on the trail. And had good faith in that people would not steal them.

Thanks so much moving the camera to the side of the trail. I did find the goggles and the two water bottles off to the side of the trail. The great person from Minnesota secured the camera and posted notes with his phone number around the lot. I am just so happy to know that everyone had the honesty to make sure I got the camera back. Thanks again...

Camera @ Earz

My buddy picked up your camera bag thinking that it was mine. When I told him it was not mine, we decided to post signs and ask around the lot to find the owner. We are from Detroit Lakes Minnesota and our group makes the trip this time every year. I look forward to the next trip the minute we leave the Muddy Creek lot on the last day. This year we had 16 riders and some friends from Colorado who joined us. Our family has a place just down the pass toward Steamboat. We skiied all our lives, but now mix in Riding. Most of our group ride 'M' sleds with a mix of addn'l Polaris and SkiDooz.
See ya next year!

Skiiers on East Side of Rabbit Ears

I just want to post a note that I was rather turned off by 2 skiiers that were on the Snowmobile side of Rabbit Ears Pass. As we were climbing up thru an Aspen grove ( on a snow covered Snowmobile Trail ) a Skiier started yelling at us to stop and get out of there. Our lead sled stopped and the rest of us were then stuck and finally grunted out of there. The 2 skiiers did ride a sled to the area, but were not using it when they yelled at us. It seems to me that they were in the wrong. Please let me know if I am wrong. If so I am temped to contact the forest service, because I know the skiiers don't hesatate to call on sleds in their area.
