Thanks Polaris... Not.

Corvette's are made to go over 140 mph but if you run into a light pole Chevy won't do jack for you.

Seriously, I feel for you as I would be bummed to. But look at it from the Polaris side. A guy shows up with a wadded up tunnel and wants it warrantied. What would you do?

I think the more direct comparison would be if the Corvette's hood flew off when you got up to 140. A YZ450F is also made to huck, and guys aren't tacoing the subframe.

Now, I think there's more going on here than was initially admitted. I know snow conditions are less than optimal across most of the west right now and damage from hucking is more probable right now due to hard objects just under the surface, or a hard base not far under, increasing the abrubtness of a landing. Pure specualtion as well, but suspension tuning could even come into play. Bein's that I haven't hucked my Assault yet, I could see the suspension not being tuned in stiff enough causing a pretty decent bottom out. Both of these things aren't Polaris' fault, and in only a hard-to-stomach kind of way my fault.

It would be nice if they would make the tunnel on the Assault out of heavier gauge metal though.

I Was out riding last weekend in Togwotee on my 2012 assault when had a little mishap on a small "jump". Anyways.. I bent up the tunnel where the skid mounts up on the left and right side from the impact. It's not all that bad, could ride it out. Took it to my dealer to see if warranty would cover it cause it wasn't that big of a hit and had no business bending the tunnel like it did. Long story short I got denied warranty and the tunnel is backordered till the end of January. Last I check the assault was made for jumping and whatnot. Am I wrong for being upset about this?

I totally feel your pain bro. So I highlighted the two items in your post that most def the Assault was not made for. Insurance on sleds for six months is like the cost of a couple tanks of fuel. The highlighted red items most def are what insurance is made for. Sorry to hear your tunnel won't be in for a while.

My mistake, didn't look at posters name. Sorry to the original poster.

Breaking and bending stuff is all a part of the game. If you have a great dealer that you're big buddies with they would probably warranty something like that, but it's not something that occurs during normal usage, and Polaris knows that. They do advertise the sleds doing jumps and drops, and I'm sure they know how much it takes to wreck a tunnel or a set of rails, and if you come in with a folded up sled they'll know it took some abuse. My dad saw the tears in my running boards from stumps and tried telling me that I should have my dealer warranty that, but I know that what caused it is no fault of Polaris. Wrecking sleds is all a part of the game. I remember an interview in Sledheads I think with Dan Gardiner, and he said he had only gone threw 3 sets of rails that season. ONLY..... I bet he didn't have them warrantied and he was probably duplicating some stunts you might see in a sled advertisement. There's a reason why they have disclaimers like "Professional rider on closed course" and "Do not attempt" in advertising. They'll show you anything to get you to buy the sled, but they're not gonna pay for everyone's "mishaps". Sorry man. Not being a d*ck, just trying to convey to you that things usually break for a reason. Faulty parts are usually addressed with a mass recall. My tunnel is bent on my pro, and really hashed on my '06 crossfire because, I too, have had "mishaps".

again, another post trashing polaris. i don't see it. first off, not an assault nor '12. think the assault shock setup might be a tad better handling the "drops". add in the condition of the snow in your pics, much like what we have here....not too deep, and a bit firm. sorry for you that it happened, and yes i think the tunnels seem a bit more fragile than i'd like. but hard to see how this would get warrantied. what did you have strapped to the back of the tunnel? nice work on the repair. definitely get braced asap. look into the chassis adhesive thread on here.

Those pics are not from the original poster! TGitt is showing us how he fixed his bent tunnel.

Yeah the 11 Pro's mine, and there was nothing strapped on the tunnel. It Actually TreeBoss' sled last year and he was the one that wrecked it. He hit a rock and it endoed (spelling) and landed on the tunnel, that's how it bent. Then he got it mostly straight, then I bought it from him and did the rest.

Personally, I think it's crazy to ask Polaris for warranty for rider error. The tunnels may not be as strong as we al would like, but a mishap's a mishap, sorry that's just bad luck.

i would look into going to a body shop, a friend of mine rolled his xp and they pulled it back straight, you couldnt tell at all. I think they used the machine they pull a unibody straight again after an accident.

The sled was wrapped after it was fixed, same tunnel.
