Thanks Forum Members

Thanks to all of the forum members for their posts to the Polaris and Ski Doo snowmobile polls. I recently blew the motor in my 2005 Rev 800 Adrenaline and was considering buying a new machine. After getting the bad news from my dealer that my engine was blown (top and bottom) I had initially decided that I was not going to put $2500 (factory replacement engine) into my 2005 and was pumped up for a new sled. After reading the polls for both models I have decided to bite the bullet and go for the new crate engine with a factory warranty for the old 2005. There is no way I'm spending $10 - 12,000 on a new sled that is certain to have problems. Someone said it best when they stated "you have better odds of winning money in Vegas" than getting a reliable 800 sled.

The way I see it I just saved 8 - 10 G and I'm in the same boat as if I bought a new machine. I'm saving that money for when Polaris and Ski Doo get their acts together and put out a machine that is mountain ready without any issues (injectors, clutching, electrical, blown engines, ventilation etc), just too many negatives posts on this and last years models to take a chance on a new machine. Thanks again for everyone's input on these polls.

So you based your decision on a poll on this forum? New sleds have a warranty. If they break it gets fixed. Machines break, thats just what happens.

If anybody were to look at forums before they bought something nobody would buy anything.

dont think ill buy new again.lost 8000 in sled value in 2 years last time i did.maybe a new heldover one.

I also got a warranty on the factory engine that they will be putting in my 2005 sled and yes, I based my decision to save lots of money on the input of the posters on these forums. There are enough negatives on the Ski Doo and Polaris models to scare anybody away. I'll take the year warranty on my new engine and keep the 8 - 10 grand in my bank account.

Wouldn't it be 5.5-7.5 grand in your bank account as you just spent $2,500 on a new engine? You would get a warranty new or old...you saved money and you are fine with keeping your sled so you made the decision you thought best.

However, to base your decision off of a forum is silly. You always see the bad stuff on forums...regardless of which forum you look at. You see good stuff as well, just the bad stuff stands out more because people like to complain.

I took into consideration the fact that most people with a problem will look for a place to vent and you will not see as much positive feedback on this forum as negative. Also I did not solely make my decision based on the feedback from this forum although the volume of negative posts was certainly a big part factor. In the end it all boils down to money, spend $2500 on a factory engine with warranty or spend 10 - 12,00 on a 2011 or previous year leftover with warranty. Seemed to me to be a no brainer, I love my current sled and I'm confident that I will see many more a powder day on it. Considering that the sleds that I was looking into purchasing were going to cost between 10.5 and 12 grand my math says that I saved between 8 - 10 g's. Either way, 5.5 to 7.5 G is not chump change. I guess all that matters is that I feel like I made a good decision, I weighed all of the info and chose to save my dough. As stated I will continue to save until one of these manufactures step it up and brings us a sled that is mountain ready and fairly reliable, it is my OPINION at this time that they have not done so (although the RMK Pro 800 seems to be close). Thanks again to the forum members who have posted their positive and negative feedback!!
