Tell me what you think of my sled

Tell me what you think of my sled. Its a 1994 grand touring. 139"track. Will this sled be good in deep snow. can you please give me some ideas of what to do to make this sled look better. P1290018.JPG

Are you kidding us? If you are it's pretty funny. If not, you asked what we think so here it is. Don't get mad if it's not what you were expecting.

First get rid of the green house size windshield for starters.
Second maybe some newer graphics, who cares what model you choose, just something that will make it look alright.

As for the length, it will go through the snow but nothing like I think you want to go through. That sled was made for exactly what it name says. Touring, not much else.

Also it's pretty dated so don't expect much in terms of performance, handling, speed, etc. etc.. That would be a good canidate for a cabin sled or for kids that come to the family farm.

Thanks. Thats the kind of replies i want. I want to know how to make this sled look a little better.

Dude, there ain't much you're going to be able to do to it to make it look that much better. Ride it for what it is, a 15 yr old sled. Enjoy it, the 580 was a good motor but RJ is right, its a touring sled, good for cabin running and touring. With the heavy C-series suspension and PRS front suspension, they didn't make it through the snow very well. Deep snow performance will not be great, but what is deep snow in your area? I wouldn't say bring it to Revelstoke with 10+ feet of powder, but for touring northern Ontario it will work fine. The track length won't be so much a problem as the height, to improve powder performance you need to go to a 1.5" track at least.

In my opinion - Leave the windshield and graphics alone. The sled isn't worth enough to bother spending any money on since, like always, as soon as you put money into something, the motor will blow or the clutch will blow apart, or etc. If you really want, take the windshield off, but don't put another one on. Get out and ride it, enjoy the time on it and who cares what anyone thinks of it. Those old sleds don't have too many years left in them, so long as you have fun with it, that's all that matters.

This ski-doo has a 139 " by 16.5" track. I think if u would know how to drive this ski-doo in deep snow, it wouldnt go to bad. How much horsepower would this have, just wondering, and what would be the top speed.

as far as looks go...id put some chrome flames are there, loose that windshield, strip all the graphics, put some PIAA headlights ($20) on, put on a single seat, loose the rack, and a billet gas cap! :D:cool:

I remember when i was in elementary school, a neighbor of mine got one of those JUST for ice fishing! man, me and his son used to rally that poor sled! it took a beating but, it held together and he still has it and still running like it did the day he got it except he had to put new front shocks on it over the summer and he didnt even have it a year yet...:D

Granted it has a longer wider track, but the weight & poor suspension negates any advantage from the track size.

As for power, it's a 580, and unlike the 583, it doesn't have the RAVE exhaust valves.
I'm guessing 80-85 HP sled.

It is still a good sled for smooth groomed trail.
Too heavy for powder, jumping etc.

I'm guessing it was as hard for you to buy this sled as it is for many of the guys on here to buy their $10,000 sled, so enjoy it! The only one you gotta impress is YOU!!!!

The motor was changed in it. The motor is out of a 1992 formula plus 583. would it have the same horsepower.

Ditto. I seriously doubt I would drop 10k or more on a sled until I was well past being a millionare. Until I get to that point, I do enjoy the older cheaper sleds. He should be able to sell or trade off this sled for great condition PhazerII ST or Lite (long track versions). Good sleds for someone on a budget. Heck I still have 2 of them... went into this winter with 4! Hopefully after this weekend I'm down to 1 though... ;)

I agree I think it looks sweet! Ride it like ya stole it!

The only way to find out what it can handle is to take it out and push it to the limit. Just make sure you bring a few buddies and a tow strap;)

don't listen to them, even though your profile says your 15, save your pennies and this is what to buy to ride deep POW (more than 2 feet):D
tunnel
track BIG PADDLES YOU NEED IT
rear susp.
shocks all around
as much lite wieght stuff you can find
clutch it
pipes (since it a 583 should be able to find them
skis
take the hood off and show that bad boy to people, also saves lbs
handlebar riser (9 inch)
rack gone and new seat
big wheel kit
last and not least
buy some trucker chrome naked ladies sticker and put on the side panels also put a belly protector with some racing stickers

The correct response here is Mafesto's. Who cares what it looks like, ride it. :)
