Tell me about Kmod

Kevin does an awesome job with skids, most likely wont be quite as playful as the OEM skid, but they keep the sled moving and going uphill far better then an OEM setup. Also, good shocks rule the roost when the hill, or trail get rough. Once you get used to a high end shock stock feels like absolute junk.

Best part of those skids is they are absolutely bomb proof. Everything about them is tough as nails. Not so much on the OEM skid.

Like said above, the Kmod we had on a boosted Pro definitely took away from its dangle friendliness... Added with a 3" it was noticeably harder to turn over on side compared to the same sled with out the skid. Definitely made it nice for climbs as you had complete ski control.

Loved my k-mod on my cat and as said above the shocks are worth their weight in gold, had two buddies run them last year on their polaris's and both did tunnel damage because of the coupled skid, not the skids fault but firm believer in putting the drop brackets and tunnel reinforcements on polaris sleds

It is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED to buy the rear tunnel reinforcement plates if you install any kind of coupling skid on a ProRide or Axys chassis sled. When coupled, it puts a lot more force and stress on the tunnel, more than it was designed to handle.

I currently have the turn key Kmod skid with the K-Motion on my '14 & '16 163 Pro-RMKs. I will not run the stock skid ever again, it's junk compared to the superior ride quality and capabilities of a turn key Kmod. All Kmod turn key skids come standard with Raptor 20 position click shocks for the FTS & RTS.

The great thing about the Kmod is if you change to a different brand of sled, it'll fit the other brands with either a new set of rails (Poo to Cat) or different front & rear torque arm internal cross bars & spacers (Poo to Doo). You do not have to buy a complete new kit. For 155-163 Pro-Ride chassis owners, all you need is the new Kmod Axys drop bracket pieces to install it in your 155 - 163 Axys (for the 174, give Kevin a call).

You can totally set them up to be more playful as stock. But yeah they are generally designed to give more ski pressure.

Thanks

I didn't order the Kmotion because I have a 16 163 2.6 pro and I can put it on its side like nothing. I was also worried about stability on the trail and cornering. Thanks again for all the input. I ordered all the reinforcements and drop brackets that were recommended.

Can you please share a more playful setting on the proride chassis?
Limiter strap, spring preload,clicker setting?

With the suspension out of the sled, set the limiter strap to create a distance of 12.5" from the ground (bottom of the hyfax, not the track) to the center of the shaft that mounts in the tunnel.

Then in general, the more front track shock pressure you have the lighter the skis will be.

If you set the limiter out, stiff front track and somewhat soft rear track shock, the thing will wheelie all day. Use the springs to tune the weight transfer of the vehicle and the clickers to control bump compliance, jumps, etc.

If you want more specifics, PM me and I can help

I was told if you didn't like the Kmotion, you could still lock it so there's no flex.

Yes the kmotion has two holes for lockout pins. I am going to find some quick pins and do some back to back testing this year. With kmotion i over-lean very easily at first, but it does help with initiation of lean (great for us with bad backs).

I have hauled butt down whooped up trails with a standard Kmod skid and a Kmod with K-Motion and at no time did I ever feel the sled was unstable on the trail with the K-Motion functioning. Now these are mountain sleds, so railing through tight turns isn't really what they were designed for.
I would add that it may have actually made it more stable as the skid will tilt to match the terrain instead of the whole rear of the sled tilting.
