Hi all

I'm helping a buddy get his new-to-him '03 RMK 700 ready for the snow.

One thing that has me scratching my head a bit is some washers and a spacer behind the big flat washer and bolt that holds the secondary on.... (Forgive me, I'm a Doo guy  )

I have a couple questions here: is it supposed to be a floating secondary? (Because the way it was installed the only thing floating would be that spacer inside) and if it IS supposed to have some movement, how much?

Thanks in advance for helping out a guy who is new to our sport...! :)

Yes it is supposed to float. There may be some of the smaller washers missing that go on the inside where the spacer goes if you don't have any float.

Better think about replacing idler wheel bearings. Especially the 3 at the rear idlers if the sled has over 2500 miles. Check the front engine mounts because they tear easily. Take off all of the shocks and hand compress them to see if they sound and feel right. Grease up all the xerxes fittings including 2 on the steering column. Look for coolant dripping out of the drip hole below the water pump. Check the VES diaphragms for any cracking. Always carry spares. Check the reeds. Properly tension the chain sprocket and change the oil and verify the bolts are on good. Replace the lower sprocket bolt with a Grade 8 bolt that is not available from Polaris. They used A307 soft bolts (what a joke).
